Γιατί έχει σημασία;
Another tool that businesses should be aware of is **Binding Origin Information (BOI)**.
While BTI concerns the **tariff classification** of goods, BOI concerns their **origin**.
The decision is issued by the customs authorities of an EU Member State and is binding on the holder and on the customs authorities of the EU Member States. As a rule, it may be valid for up to 3 years.
Why does it matter?
Because the origin of goods can affect the application of *preferential customs duties* under trade agreements.
So, in complex production chains, the question is not only:
“How much duty will I pay?”
But first:
“Have I properly documented the origin of the product?”
