A day of data, science, and hands-on experience on road transport emissions!

Last month, we brought the community together for a full day of knowledge sharing, expert insights and hands-on learning at our COPERT , held under the auspices of the European Environment Agency (EEA).

The first part of the webinar explored the importance of COPERT, its methodology, input data and latest updates.

We also welcomed invited experts who shared their latest research findings and insights into regulatory developments:
🔹 Susana Gil-Sayas (JRC) presented findings on MAC energy consumption in electrified and conventional vehicles.
🔹 Thanasis Dimaratos (Aristotle University of Thessaloniki) presented the latest results from the VERA Horizon project.

🔹 A. Papu Carrone (EEA) introduced the latest developments concerning CountEmissionsEU.

In the second part, we moved from theory to practice with a live COPERT demonstration and dedicated hands-on sessions for beginners and advanced users.

A special thank you to M. Baldi (EEA) for opening the webinar, to all our speakers for their valuable contributions, and to everyone who joined us and made the day a success!

Shortest, fastest, cheapest or greenest?
When it comes to heavy-duty truck routing, these objectives do not always point in the same direction.

Michalis Perdikopoulos will present our work “Green Vehicle Routing for Heavy-Duty Trucks: Fuel Consumption Trade-offs under Speed, Road Grade, and Payload Effect” at the XVII International Conference Optimization and Applications (OPTIMA-2026) in 21-25 September in Petrovac, Montenegro,.

The study investigates the implications of a detailed fuel consumption calculation in the routing problem, accounting for speed, payload and road slope, and compares routing decisions based on conflicting objectives: distance, duration, fuel consumption and total operating cost.

🚗 How much can today’s automotive R&I contribute to reducing tomorrow’s road-transport energy consumption?

Although the LeMesurier project has come to an end, its research continues to generate impact — with our latest work now published as part of the EARPA Form Forum 2025 book by Springer Nature.

Our chapter explores the potential impact of technologies developed within the 2ZERO Partnership on the energy consumption of future battery and fuel-cell electric vehicles. The study integrates these technological advances into COPERT/SIBYL, enabling their potential contribution to reducing energy consumption across European road transport to be quantified — with projections indicating up to an additional 2% reduction by 2050.

A great example of how collaborative European R&I can translate technological innovation into measurable impact for the future of sustainable mobility.

exchange needs to be seamless, interoperable, and trusted!

That’s why we’re pleased to announce that e:misia GreeenLight has been approved as Conformant by SINE Foundation and Smart Freight Centre.

We now support peer-to-peer exchange of logistics emissions data through the iLEAP Protocol, an open-source protocol for exchanging logistics emissions data across supply chains according to the GLEC Framework and ISO 14083.

We are continuing to invest in standards-based data exchange and helping the logistics emissions ecosystem move toward greater transparency and interoperability.
