I wonder what was different this time. I remember a string of cases a few years ago where the drug mules were sentenced to anywhere from 6-10 years. After those cases, it seems attempts to smuggle m**h into Guam slowed down; meaning those long sentences were deterring participation in such attempts. Then a few years later, it started picking up again. What a vicious cycle.

I would oppose a soda tax on Guam, but with so many health issues affecting Guam, a soda tax would make more sense than increasing the to***co tax. But I doubt the Guam Legislature would pass a soda tax. They would rather tax the 'evil' to***co users, who will choose to pay the extra costs and reduce their disposable income.

Critics say the collapse of the Cook County tax is proof the national soda tax movement is losing its momentum.

Too bad that most people who support continuing to raise the minimum wage don't really concern themselves with the negative effects.

Last week Senate Democrats introduced legislation to support a raise for minimum wage to $15 an hour by 2024. Nearly 20 states have already raised minimum wage at the local level. But is this really a good move for small businesses?
