Today, Grade 9 students of Richard Ishmael Secondary School visited the Guyana Fire Service Headquarters for an interactive fire safety and prevention session as part of their Crop Production and Management syllabus.

The educational visit provided students with valuable knowledge and practical experience in fire safety, particularly in the prevention and management of field fires.

Ranks from the Fire Prevention Department facilitated the session, educating students on fire prevention measures and demonstrating the proper use of fire extinguishers in the event of a fire emergency.

The students also had the exciting opportunity to experience a ride in a fire truck, adding a memorable element to their educational visit.

The Guyana Fire Service was pleased to accommodate the students and teachers, reaffirming its commitment to educating young minds and promoting a culture of fire safety and prevention.

More than 30 persons at Bath Market Square, West Coast Berbice, benefited from a fire prevention outreach conducted by ranks from the Onverwagt Fire Station.

Shoppers, vendors, and other marketgoers were targeted during the market day activity, which provided information about the Guyana Fire Serviceโ€™s mandate, fire extinguishers, personal protective equipment (PPE), and fire alarm systems.

Led by Sub-Officer Denbar Quintin, the team engaged members of the public, while Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs) offered blood pressure and blood glucose testing.

The outreach brought fire safety education and health screening directly to persons as they went about their market day activities.

FIRE UPDATE ||The Guyana Fire Service responded to a report of a house on fire at Lot 7 Friendship Backdam, East Coast Demerara.

Water Tenders #123 and #131, along with Water Carrier #35 and firefighting crews from the Campbellville and Melanie Fire Stations, were dispatched to the scene.

Upon arrival, firefighters found the single-storey wooden building fully engulfed in flames.

Firefighters immediately commenced firefighting operations and, through their swift and coordinated efforts, successfully extinguished the blaze, preventing it from spreading to nearby structures.

However, the building and its contents were completely destroyed.

Investigations are ongoing to determine the cause of the fire.

FIRE UPDATE | DE HOOP, MAHAICONY

The Guyana Fire Service has successfully extinguished a fire that erupted at a storage bond at the A&S General Construction Klyzaanar Asphalt Plant in De Hoop, Mahaicony, East Coast Demerara.

Water Tender #125 and Water Carrier #35, along with firefighting crews from the Mahaica and Melanie Fire Stations, were dispatched to the scene.

Through swift and coordinated firefighting efforts, crews were able to bring the blaze under control and successfully extinguish it, preventing further spread.

However, the storage bond sustained extensive damage as a result of the fire.

Firefighters are currently conducting mop-up operations to ensure that all remaining hotspots are completely extinguished and to prevent any possible reignition.

Investigations into the cause of the fire are ongoing.

a report of a fire at a tar storage bond located at the Asphalt Plant in De Hoop, Mahaicony, East Coast Demerara.

Water Tender #125 and Water Carrier #35, along with firefighting crews from the Mahaica and Melanie Fire Stations, were dispatched to the scene.

Firefighters are currently on the ground, actively working to contain and extinguish the blaze.

FIRE REPORT | FATAL FIRE AT CHARITY, ESSEQUIBO COAST

The Guyana Fire Service responded to a report of a house on fire at David James Housing Scheme, Charity, Essequibo Coast.

Upon arrival, firefighters encountered a two-storey wooden building fully engulfed in flames. Firefighters immediately went into action, employing swift and coordinated efforts to bring the blaze under control.

During the emergency response, firefighters received reports that two occupants were trapped inside the burning building.

Following the successful extinguishment of the fire, firefighters conducted a thorough search of the premises, which led to the tragic discovery of the charred remains of 20-year-old Donette Albert and three-year-old Keiron Latchan.

The Guyana Fire Service deeply mourns this tragic loss of life and extends its heartfelt condolences to the families, relatives, and loved ones of the deceased during this extremely difficult time.

Investigations are ongoing to determine the origin and cause of the fire.
