A TWO-DAY cybersecurity training programme aimed at strengthening Guyana’s national security infrastructure has concluded, with members of the Guyana Defence Force (GDF) and the National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA) receiving advanced instruction in cyber threat prevention and digital security systems.

The programme was organised by Data Technology Guyana in collaboration with global cybersecurity firm Fortinet and focused on preparing security personnel to respond to the growing complexity of cyber threats targeting critical infrastructure and sensitive information systems.

My name is Rennie Leow, and I am the General Manager of Data Technology. With over 20 years of experience in the Information Technology field, Data Technology has been delivering innovative and reliable ICT business solutions across the private sector, Oil & Gas industry, and semi-autonomous government agencies.

Key highlights include the deployment of virtualization technologies and advanced IP surveillance systems for organizations such as the Demerara Harbour Bridge and the Asphalt Plant. We were also among the first to deploy Ubiquiti AirFiber point-to-point links, achieving connectivity over distances of more than 20 miles.
Data Technology also implemented the first Sustainable Digital Smart AI-Powered Classroom in Guyana for Humanitarian Mission Guyana Inc., a project funded by the Greater Guyana Initiative Programme and the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB).

1: Fortinet Security Products - FortiGate Firewall, FortiSwitch and FortiAPs for corporate network communication and security.

2: DELL PowerEdge R660 Server with Microsoft Hyper-V virtualization hosting several Windows Server Roles (ADDS, DHCP, DNS, CA, FILE/PRINT) for User Authentication and Corporate Data sharing including hosting of QuickBooks Enterprise for business operation.

3: Deployment of VEEAM Backup and Replication Service to facilitate daily automated backup of all VMs to an Onsite Storage Repository (Synology DiskStation) as well as VEEAM Cloud Connect Service to facilitate daily automated backup of all VMs to an Offsite Storage Repository (Azure Cloud Storage) for Disaster Recovery.

4: Deployment of FortiClient Endpoint Security Service to all corporate computers for off-premises security protection. Including Deployment of Endpoint Central Service for remote management of all corporate computers.

CLOUD SERVICES

5: Microsoft 365 Business Premium which includes access to Desktop Apps, Teams, OneDrive for Business. Migration of their Emails/Calendar Logs/Contacts from Google Workspace to M365 Exchange Online Email Service. User Accounts synchronization from Windows AD to M365 Entra ID for centralized access management.

6: Deployment of a Window VM hosted in Microsoft Azure Cloud Platform that is connected to the on-premises server via Fortinet's ZTNA Service to facilitate daily synchronization of the QB Data File and Corporate Data Folder from the On-Premises VMs to the Azure VM for Business Continuity purpose.
