Last week the Centre visited the Region 10 town of Linden to bring knowledge and information on how the oil and gas sector works in Guyana, business and job opportunities they can tap into, and the importance of safety requirements in this sector.

The Centre team was also joined by Eve Anderson Recruitment Guyana and Newrest Guyana Inc., both looking for talent for their teams. This outreach was done in partnership with the Linden Chamber Of Industry Commerce & Development and made possible by support from The Greater Guyana Initiative.

Smit Lamnalco recently hosted its first vendor engagement session on Monday, May 18, at the Centre for Local Business Development where they shared valuable insight into their growing operations in Guyana.

The packed audience of current and potential suppliers heard directly from the team about Smit's procurement need, standards, procurement processes, and their upcoming projects. They were also able to ask questions to understand requirements, and network to foster relationships.

This successful event was the very first of more to come. See some snapshots from the day.

Celebrating International Day for Biodiversity!

Today, we are reminded that protecting biodiversity is not just an environmental responsibility, but it’s essential to building resilient and sustainable businesses in Guyana.

At the Centre for Local Business Development, we are proud to support this vision through our partnership with the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and the Delegation of the European Union in Guyana as an implementing partner on the Guyana Wood Based Accelerator Programme.

By working with local businesses in the forestry and wood-based sector, we are promoting sustainable practices that add value to our natural resources while helping to share economic development for Guyanese working in this sector.

As Guyana continues to grow, balancing protecting Guyana's biodiversity, economic development, and equitable prosperity for all helps to ensure long term success.
