From rags to riches, a story untold,
Sixty years of resilience, a beauty behold.
Once cast aside, neglected, ignored,
Now a jewel of the world, her spirit restored.
They looked at her children and turned a blind eye,
But watch how we soar, how we light up the sky!
The ones who stood distant now knock at our door,
Seeking a friendship they slighted before.
Deep in her waters, a new gem was found,
A wealth of rich oil from the dark underground.
It lifted the burdens her children once bore,
And brought us the recognition we waited for.
Through the heavy struggles, she stood tall and brave,
Blessed by the rivers and the warmth that she gave.
A beacon of hope, from the coast to the trees,
Oh, land of the free, we are down on our knees—
With hearts full of pride for the gold and the green,
The grandest tomorrow the world’s ever seen.
Dear beautiful Guyana, the home of our birth,
Today we shout proud: you're the gem of the Earth!
