The Civil Defence Commission Volunteer Corps (CDC VC) is an arm of the Civil Defence Commission (CDC), promoting Comprehensive Disaster Management in Guyana through volunteerism. The CDC VC was developed to support the functioning and initiatives of the CDC, the country’s national disaster organisation, particularly at a community level. The CDC VC was conceptualized in February 2012, and official

ly launched on October 12, 2012 at a Symposium organised by the CDC in recognition of International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction (IDDRR) 2012. This launching took place at the Guyana International Convention Centre, where volunteers were officially welcomed and pinned by the then Director General of the CDC, Col. To date, the group has grown to have volunteers from across all ten administrative regions of Guyana.
