πŸŽ“ Investing in Education. Empowering Future Leaders.

GMIN Ventures Guyana Inc. is pleased to announce that applications are now open for our annual Undergraduate Bursary Programme in partnership with the University of Guyana, reaffirming our commitment to education, capacity building, and national development.

The programme provides financial support to students pursuing studies across 11 academic disciplines, including Engineering, Accountancy, Biology, Chemistry, Occupational Safety and Health, and other fields.

Each recipient will receive an annual bursary of GY$175,000, along with the opportunity to participate in a 30–45 day paid internship at our Oko West Gold Project in Region Seven, gaining valuable industry experience and practical skills.

Through this ongoing initiative, GMIN and the University of Guyana continue to support students, helping to develop the next generation of Guyanese professionals.

Applications are now open. Interested students are encouraged to apply through the University of Guyana.

This past Tuesday, our President & CEO Louis-Pierre Gignac, alongside our Board Chair Louis Gignac Sr. and G Mining Services / G Services Miniers President Mathieu Gignac presented a fireside chat with Fasken’s MontrΓ©al offices.

The event dove into the company’s origin story and early development while showcasing the impressive growth of GMIN from a market capitalization of approximately $250 million in 2022 to over $10 billion today.

On June 11, GMIN Guyana’s HR team in Bartica, Region Seven, participated in a Career Day and Career Options Event, connecting with students, parents, and community members through an interactive open-house exhibition.

Our team shared information about current and future job opportunities at the Oko West Gold Project, answered questions, hosted fun activities, and showcased videos highlighting project progress, workforce training, community initiatives, and ongoing construction activities.

The event was a great opportunity to encourage students to explore careers in mining and learn about the long-term employment and business opportunities being created in Region Seven. We were also excited to receive job applications from interested attendees.

Developing a skilled and knowledgeable workforce remains a priority at the Oko West Gold Project in Region Seven.

In partnership with Genequip, trainers and operators recently participated in operational training on the Komatsu PC4000 Excavator and HD1500 Mining Truck.

The programme focused on safe and efficient equipment operation, highlighting the important role operators play in optimizing equipment performance, supporting preventative maintenance, and maintaining a safe working environment.

At GMIN Ventures Guyana, we are committed to investing in the development of our people. Through continuous training and capacity-building initiatives, we are strengthening local expertise and enhancing operational excellence.

🎯 Structural framing for our Power Plant and Mine Maintenance Facility is well underway.

🎯Three of our Power Plant engines have arrived on site, scheduled to be installed in July.

🎯 Our new kitchen and dining hall was commissioned on May 26th with a seating capacity of 350.

βš“ Tug Master
The Tug Master is responsible for the overall command and safe operation of the vessel, including navigation, crew management, and compliance with maritime regulations. The successful candidate will ensure the safety and welfare of all personnel on board, oversee vessel movements, and implement company policies and operational procedures while maintaining the highest standards of safety and professionalism.

The Tug Engineer is responsible for the operation, maintenance, and reliability of the vessel's mechanical, propulsion, electrical, and auxiliary systems. GMIN Ventures Guyana Inc. in collaboration with G Mining Services, recently visited Karrau Village, Region Seven, to support ongoing community development efforts and strengthen stakeholder engagement.

Community Business Development Coordinator Shelana Fredericks and Engineering Manager, G Mining Services, Mathieu Rheaume conducted a site assessment and provided technical guidance for a proposed community project. The team also met with Acting Headteacher Adriana John to assess a request for assistance with the construction of a kitchen at the Karrau Creek Nursery School.

During the visit, the team engaged residents on social investment initiatives, shared updates on the Oko West Project, distributed informational materials, and gathered feedback on future community priorities.

The team also met with Regional Executive Officer Dr. Josh Kanhai, Toshao Shane Cornelius, and Region Seven Department of Works Overseer Colin McKenzie to discuss opportunities for continued collaboration and sustainable development across the region.
