Hailed by “The Whisky Exchange” London as “one of the greatest Macallan ever released” this is The Macallan Select Reserve 52 Year Old.

Distilled one year after the end of the Second World War this unique release was made using peat instead of traditional coal. The price of coal had increased drastically and the whisky industry had to fall back on more traditional methods. The result did not disappoint however and given its unique character this is now one of the most sought after Macallans of the modern era.

- 40% ABV
- 750ml
- Packaged in luxury wooden box with signed “Certificate of Guarantee” by The Macallan Distillery Manager.

Perhaps one of the Lalique’s Group biggest statements since acquiring The Glenturret brand in 2019 is the jewel of their 2020 Maiden Release series, “The Provenance” decanter. Limited to 320 Lalique crystal individually marked decanters, the whisky inside is a 33 year old single malt distilled in 1987.

Bottled by Glenturret whisky maker Bob Dalgarno (previously Macallan, 1984-2020) he describes the rich tasting notes of this super premium whisky below:

“Ginger, brandy-soaked cherries and plump, juicy sultanas, followed by hits of cinnamon sticks, dates and soft whispers of oak and green apple”.

For more information on the decanter and how to purchase in Hong Kong please contact the team for more information.

One of the most recognisable of the vintage Macallan bottlings, this example from Campbell, Hope and King comes from 1951.

Up until the late 1970s the bottling of Macallan stock was outsourced to companies including Edinburgh based brewer and bottler Archibald Campbell, Hope and King Ltd., and Elgin based Gordon & MacPhail. Many of their releasees were produced for growing export markets in USA and Italy and included a wide variety of aged bottlings; 8 YO, 10 YO, 12 YO, 17 YO and 18 YO. Another popular one, seen here, is the “Over 15 Years Old” which is common on many of the Pinerolo, Donini and Rinaldi imports.

Some key points to look out for on these beautiful bottles are:

1) Alcohol strength is marked by “Proof”, not ABV; the most common statement being “80 Proof” (the equivalent to 40% ABV).
2) The neck label features year of distillation in the centre with Macallan logo, “Bonded Sherry” and “Matured in Wood” written on the side.
3) Campbell, Hope and King were the first company to produce the gold emboldened type face for The Macallan logo, a theme which has carried on to this day.
