🥅 YOUNG ACL INJURY PT. 1
knee.rehab shares part two of her ACL jourknee:

“I went back to playing football after i fully recovered from my second surgery for 2 years until i felt some thing wrong with my knee. I later found out that the graph from the surgery hadn’t worked. Due to it not given me any pain the surgeon allowed my to play with out an ACL. Until the start of 2020 when I started to give my problems and i got referred to a knee specialist in synthetic graphs for ACL injuries.

Now I’m waiting for surgery on my right knee which involves a distal femoral osteotomy (open wedge) where the surgeon will saw into my femur then increase the space to create an open wedge then place a mental plate and screws to secure the femur in place. In the same surgery they will then do a high tibial osteotomy (closed wedge) where they will saw into my tibia to take a wedge of bone out then bring the cut together and secure with a plate and screws again this will the first surgery of two complete.

I will need to then need to wait a year until i can get my second surgery where the surgeon will perform my ACL reconstruction with a synthetic LARS graph as they can’t use any of my tissue anymore then they will perform a lateral tenodesis with synthetic graph also to prevent pivot shift all this will be done within the second surgery.

The surgeon said that this is one of the most complex and unique cases that he has ever seen but also that this will be the first time he would be doing all these surgery’s on one person.”

⚽️YOUNG ACL INJURY PT. 1
knee.rehab shares part one of her ACL jourknee:

“Hi, my name is Nicole and I’m 19 years old from Scotland and i have had 3 ruptured ACL in my right knee from the age of 14. I have decided to make a rehab page for this surgery to keep me motivated and to document my progress since this will be my biggest surgery so far .knee.rehab.

In 2015, I ruptured my ACL for the first time at training. I was was running and as i tried to change direction my football was planned into the ground as my upper body rotation round, I heard a large pop in my knee. Few months later I got ACL reconstruction surgery using the hamstring graph. I started physio and everything was going well up until the 6 month stage.

Then I ruptured my ACL and had a grade 2 medial and lateral meniscus tear 6 months into my recovery from my first surgery. This happened as i was walking down a flight of stairs and I heard the same pop as before and i know it was my ACL. I went to see the surgeon and got scans to confirm what happened then couple months later i got my second ACL reconstruction with meniscus and cartilage repair surgery.”

👧🏼 YOUNG WITH TD

was unfortunately diagnosed with a rare condition, trochlear dysplasia, and this is her story.

Hi everyone, I am 22 and I have trochlear dysplasia. I just discovered it recently because I did an IRM. I already had dislocations when I was 12 or 13 I barely remember my knee pops back directly in place, it was mainly the left knee, then I lived fine because actually I didn't know that I was not ''normal'' this time, my sport level were always low, i hated sports, and my sport teachers always gave me bad grades because I did not have a good performance for someone of my age. But i was living good with my knee, one and half year agoo I had a dislocation during my exam because i barely touched my knee with the table, I stand up and i pushed my patella back in place. I went directly to the doctor after and he told me since I didn't have dislocation since 6 years we would not do any operation just put me in brace for 3 weeks. I went back to normal after 6 weeks, my knee was a bit weaker but i forgot about it as we didn't even do scans. Since 3 months agoo since i discovered the dyplasia

i started having more and more issue in my daily life, my patella is sitting subluxated. I am really scared of the surgery but i think i would go for it hoping for the best in the futur to have a better quality of life. I read some horror stories about it and i am really really scared. actually the surgeons had differents opinion about what sugeries I need, 2 surgeons said mpfl, and one said either i correct everything with trochleoplastie and TTT and mpfl. tHE 2 Surgeons told me even i have dysplasia we can manage to do mpfl just to get enough stability as my other knee and not be bothered. I am afraid because I had 2 differents opinions that both make a lot of sense, the 2 surgeon are very good... which is hard.

YOU are in charge of YOUR life and YOUR recovery. No one else can tell you otherwise. No one knows your body more than YOURSELF. If you feel like something is off, voice it out. If you feel you can go stronger or if you need a break, do it. As .epic.things might say, it’s YOU who is in charge.

Injury:
Rigth knee.
Complete ACL tear and meniscus injury, July 2020. Soccer game.

5 months exactly after acl tear, 22/12 2020, after endless hours of prehab, the best Christmas gift ever. ACL reconstruction surgery, hamstring autograf Dec 2020

Heavy prehab prior to surgery

Every single day since the injury has been about training and recovery.
Pump the legs in the morning, work on balance and stability, several times during the day, move on with strength and endurance in the late afternoon.Cycling, swimming, gym, walking and finaly running. Small steps day by day. But despite all efforts it didn't get well. I had difficulties with knee pain and extension, (max 0deg).

I'm 4 weeks post surgery, cycling already, starting gym program this week. Extension - 5 deg, flexion 120 deg. Prehab rules💪💪 Thanks to heavy prehab my recovery is going better than expected.
