A partial update of your old blog content = organic traffic x 2 in less than 6 months 😱

This is what happened to one of my first clients (e-commerce).

After I 'only'
- updated 8 out of 55 blog articles
- updated 1-2 blogs per month over 6 months
- started out learning about SEO

>> This can definitely be faster!

Pure content.

😱 No visuals were provided (but I provided free advice on the use of infographics and videos)

😱 No technical SEO, off-page SEO (no backlinks!), or any other on-page SEO was done (but I provided a site audit for free)

😱 No UX design.

😱 "Basic" WordPress.

Imagine what it would be like if SEO was fully implemented 🤯

Despite all this, the results speak for themselves.

This is what my client said:

“ We revamped the content of numerous pages and significantly improved their quality. After a few weeks, we can already see an increase in traffic on the targeted pages and longer visit durations, which suggests promising prospects in the medium term. ”

As a bonus, this client also repurposed some of this blog content internally.
They transformed blogs into comprehensive guides as lead magnets.

How did I get these results?

👉 I only updated the best-performing blogs + 1 pillar page
👉 I focused on delivering comprehensive informational content to answer the search intent in the targeted market (US) and help the audience make an informed decision about their therapy
👉 I performed keyword research, competitor analysis, and clinical study research

I spend 70% of my time on research, and the rest on writing.

Writing is the 'easy' bit.

I doubled organic traffic with Blog Content ONLY

Who said Content is King? 🙋‍♀️

Is content optimization enough for SEO? Of course not, it is only one part of SEO, but the fact that I could get results without backlinks shows how important relevant content is.

📈 Results:

👉 Traffic started increasing after a few weeks
👉 Organic traffic x 2 in 6 months, improved metrics such as visit durations, and a reduced bounce rate.

🔍 Product:
E-commerce home learning program.

🌟 Initial Problems:

👎 Old blogs
👎no SEO
👎no scientific facts
👎and no internal SEO experts.

Tough road.

📊 Goals:

👉 Boost traffic
👉 Look professional for partners and investors
👉 Raise awareness and educate the general public.

🛠️ My approach:

👉 Find SEO content issues.
👉 Fix 20% of best blogs for maximal impact (1-2 blogs /month)
👉 Add scientific references.
👉 Add empathy + unique content e.g. therapists' interviews with my client's help

When your client gives you more money than you asked for...

OK, I also thought I may not be charging enough! 🤣

This client had been disappointed by other writers simply copying and pasting content from ChatGPT.

This was a paid trial.

I was emotionally involved in this topic (treating asthma with Traditional Chinese Medicine). I belong to his target audience, it doesn't get more empathetic than that! 💁‍♀️

I loved collaborating with a doctor who admitted his writing was too 'medical' to be understood by the general public.
But he knew which concerns and fears his patients had.

He shared his testimonial based on the questions I prepared.

As a result, I have a strong testimonial and will get more work from this client.

I hit a rough patch in August (being quiet as my clients were on holiday) but September was my highest motivational peak.
