Dear Hong Kong expats,
I am a doctoral counselling psychology student and am looking for people who might be interested to assist me with my research into the complexities and issues couples face who are managing crisis caregiving for parents who live overseas. Below is some information about me and my research. Please let me know if you are interested in participating in this research and feel free to share with anyone you think may be interested in sharing their stories via PM.
------
Claire is a British Hong Kong expat who is conducting research for her doctorate in counselling psychology at a Hong Kong based university. She wants to understand how individuals and couples cope with caring for a parent or close relative living overseas who has been diagnosed with a critical health condition such as Alzheimer’s, stroke, terminal cancer etc. or has recently lost a close relative due to a critical condition. The aim of the research is to understand the impact this process has on an individual’s mental health in conjunction with handling multiple roles during such a stressful time. The research will be invaluable in bringing about understanding of this understudied yet growing global phenomena and how mental health professionals can help people through this process. The research will require BOTH partners in a couple (i.e. the primary carer and their who may or may not be dealing with a similar situation) to engage in a 30-90 minute interview with Claire. If you think you or someone you know may wish to be part of this research, please contact Claire via WhatsApp on 91081141 or PM via FB and she will be able to discuss the research in more detail. All data pertaining to research participants will be 100% confidential and bound by strict university research ethical guidelines. Many thanks for your kind attention.
