All general prepackaged foods are mandated to carry a nutrition label under the Food and Drugs (Composition and Labelling) (Amendment: Requirements for Nutrition Labelling and Nutrition Claim) Regulation 2008, of the Public Health and Municipal Services Ordinance (Cap.132) (Hereafter "the Amendment Regulation") with effect from 1 July 2010, unless the food product is exempt prepackaged foods under the Schedule 6 of the Amendment Regulation. 消費者請注意，部分二噁英含量超標大閘蟹已流入市面。

Some of the hairy crabs that were found to contain dioxins and dioxin-like PCBs at a total level exceeding the safety level are now available in the market.

大閘蟹中的二噁英及二噁英樣多氯聯苯

食物安全中心(中心)抽取了大閘蟹樣本進行檢測，發現來自江蘇省兩個水產養殖場的兩個樣本二噁英及二噁英樣多氯聯苯含量超出中心的行動水平，決定暫停有關水產養殖場生產的大閘蟹進口及在港出售。

二噁英是一組對環境具有持久性污染力的化學物質,也是一類劇毒物質，可導致生殖和發育問題，損害免疫系統，干擾激素，還可以導致癌症。國際癌症研究機構已把二噁英和二噁英樣多氯聯苯列為人類的致癌物。二噁英既可以從天然途徑釋出，亦會透過工業活動以副產品的形式產生，例如在冶煉金屬、製模或燃燒含氯的有機化學品 (如塑膠)時，均會產生二噁英。二噁英是脂溶性的，不易分解，因此多積聚在脂肪組織，並於食物鏈內積聚。

業界如持有涉事食品，應立即停用及停售。市民如最近曾購入相關食品，但不肯定食品來源，為審慎起見，亦應停止食用，並向有關零售商瞭解貨源。中心會繼續跟進事件和採取適當行動，加強抽驗及繼續追查有關食品的分銷情況，以確保食物安全及保障市民健康。
