Canon in D 一首很受歡迎的進場曲, 你知這它背後的一段淒美故事嗎?

Pachelbel（卡農的作者），德國人。在他10幾歲的時候，戰亂使他淪為孤兒。流浪到英國的他被英國一個小村莊的天天在教堂彈琴的琴師收養，之後他天天聽那個他彈琴，耳濡目染也學會了鋼琴。

在他們旁邊的鎮上上有一個女孩子叫Barbara Gabler，家了有錢有勢，Barbara Gabler也是鎮上最漂亮的女孩，自從到教堂聽了Pachelbel彈的曲子，就愛上了他。很多有錢人到府向Barbara Gabler提親都被拒絕了，因為Barbara Gabler心裏只喜歡Pachelbel。但女孩子嘛，都比較害羞，從小被寵到大的Barbara Gabler一直不敢向Pachelbel表白，後來Barbara Gabler就找了個理由，說要去Pachelbel那裏學鋼琴，她對Pachelbel說自己熱愛音樂，希望可以拜師學藝。

Pachelbel很高興的收下了這個徒弟。但Barbara Gabler她的目的並不是彈琴，所以幾乎不把經歷花費在鋼琴上，遭到了Pachelbel一再的責罵。Barbara Gabler心裏委屈，但還是一直跟著Pachelbel，希望Pachelbel能明白自己的心意。

終於有一天Pachelbel對Barbara Gabler說：“你走吧，你真的不適合彈鋼琴。而且你也不喜歡鋼琴。”Barbara Gabler聽後，對自己說：“不要說我不行！Pachelbel。我回去一定要好好彈琴，半年後我要拿到本地的鋼琴第一名的！”（在鎮上每年都會舉行一次女孩鋼琴大賽。）

半年裏，Barbara Gabler天天練習，餓了就叫家裏的用人送些吃的，睏了就趴著睡一會。 半年一轉眼就過去了，Barbara Gabler參加了比賽，果真的拿了獎。Barbara Gabler想拿這個獎盃去找Pachelbel並向他表達自己的愛意，但當她去找Pachelbel的時候，Pachelbel已經不在了。當時正值戰亂，Pachelbel被徵去打仗，Barbara Gabler知道後說：“好，我等他回來。”

就這樣Barbara Gabler等了Pachelbel整整3年多，在這期間村長的兒子看上了Barbara Gabler ，村長的兒子很清楚Barbara Gabler已經心有所屬，就叫人從前線運回來一具碎屍體，說那就是Pachelbel。Pachelbel沒有父母和親戚，沒有人可以對證，Barbara Gabler相信Pachelbel真的已經死了，趴在"Pachelbel"的屍體上哭了3天3夜，那時，村長的兒子買了很多的禮物去找Barbara Gabler提親，Barbara Gabler沒有理睬。

在3天后的晚上，在當時Pachelbel教Barbara Gabler鋼琴的教堂裏，Barbara Gabler割腕自殺了。

而Pachelbel在Barbara Gabler離開的半年裏，他發現沒有Barbara Gabler在身邊，自己少了很多很多的快樂，其實很多事情就是這樣失去了才知道珍惜。Pachelbel在Barbara Gabler離開後才發現原來自己已經不知不覺的愛Barbara Gabler，只是因為她學琴不努力所以就埋沒了對她的喜歡。當時他準備寫一首歌，做為向Barbara Gabler求婚的禮物，當他完成了卡農的1/3的時候。他被招去打仗了，在戰亂中，自己的生命多次都是九死一生，每當心中不舒服的時候都會想到 Barbara Gabler，想到教她彈琴的日子……那段時光真是值得懷念啊。之後他完成了卡農剩下的2/3。

在Barbara Gabler自殺後了第2個月，Pachelbel回到了村裏。他從村民的口中知道了Barbara Gabler的故事和她為自己做的所有事後，他咆哮著，放聲大哭。他找到了Barbara Gabler的家人，問她現在葬在哪。她家裏人都不肯告訴Pachelbel，隨後的一次禮拜，Pachelbel招集他們村和Barbara Gabler村上所有的人，他坐在鋼琴前強忍著淚水，彈出了卡農“Canon(D Major)”彈後，在場的所有人沒有一個沒有落淚的。
