10 Tips to help you stay motivated throughout the day!

1) Divide your work into tasks that are manageable and as specific as possible

2) When you are feeling overwhelmed, zero in on the first set of tasks that come to mind

3) Reward yourself after crossing tasks off your to-do list

4) Make it a routine to check the progress of your projects and adjust accordingly

5) Imagine what you are missing out on by not working towards your goals

6) Find someone who you trust that can motivate you when you have trouble doing so yourself

7) Discover a way to enjoy your work and make it engaging, even if that is only reflected in the reward received from completing it or by how you prepare to tackle it

😎 Let others know about your goals and use social pressure to encourage yourself to follow through with your commitments

9) Get more exercise and be active during the breaks you take from your work

10) Don't stress about the length of your breaks, your brain needs time to rest and forcing yourself to go back to work before it's refreshed won't increase the amount you get done

Getting edges around all your stuff is the critical factor for getting into control, and the GTD Weekly Review®, done consistently, provides that kind of needed fence. We have to be able to let things get out of control, in the short term. But that's only possible with a broader parameter that we can trust.

You can never get enough of what you don't really need. And you can never work hard enough, long enough, or fast enough to eliminate the stress or discomfort that drives those behaviours. Your ® brings a much-needed break in the pace.

Bringing yourself present and current with your everyday affairs often triggers the release of your creative flow, which will have nothing at all to do with your everyday affairs.

Tips for working through your Weekly Review

---------------------------------------------

Build the Review Into Your System
_____________________________
Ensure that your Weekly Review is part of your trusted system. Finding an easily repeatable way to replicate the review every week is essential for making your GTD system work. When you can't finish a review completely, ensure you have a trusted capture tool to save that information for next week.

Begin the Review Early
___________________
Instead of waiting until the end of Friday to complete your review, consider changing things up a bit. One idea is to begin late Thursday and work throughout Friday on your review so you have more space to conduct a thoughtful reflection.

Always Have A Flexible Schedule
____________________________
When we focus on artificially confining our work to blocks of time that are not easily changeable, productivity generally declines. Keep your work schedule open to change whenever possible so that you can give your priorities the attention they deserve. Better results will follow.

Separate the Review Into Different Parts
__________________________________
Find the aspects of each review that can be divided into different categories or areas of focus. Doing so will make you feel less forced to complete the entire review in one day and risk rushing the process. One way this could be done is to conduct your professional review on Friday and your personal review on Saturday.

Generate a Shorter Version of Your Review
____________________________________
Weekly Reviews can come in all shapes and sizes, but it's important to always have a shorted version available for when you don't have time for a full review. In this shorted version all you need is a framework to cover the most basic and important parts of the review such as inbox zero and reviewing your calendar.

Add a Social Component to Your Review
__________________________________
Sometimes it's hard to get the Weekly Review to stick, we've all been there. One way to work around this is to turn internal commitments into external ones. Consider sharing your Weekly Review with other trusted persons to encourage accountability and social engagement.

Be Sure to Reward Yourself
_______________________
Good habits become commonplace quicker and easier when there's a reward. If the review itself isn't a reward to you, then make sure the last step leads to one.

Always Be Changing How You Conduct Your Review
____________________________________________
Don't let your review get stagnant. Your life, roles and responsibilities are constantly changing, so why wouldn't your review do the same? Always be on the lookout for what you can add or subtract from you Weekly Review based on the most recent changes in your life.

If you found this helpful, consider sharing this post. It's always appreciated 😊
