Last week we welcomed a group of 24 EMBA students from the Swiss Universities of Applied Sciences St. Gallen & Bern to our studio discussing challenges of doing business in Asia and the role of creative leadership in establishing a market in this dynamic region.

Crucial in terms of consumer market size & rapid innovation development, we shed some light how European & American companies can address regional consumer needs relevantly with UX & design thinking, growing their market position with clever designed products.

Envary's design of the water filter A6Pro has won the international IF design award for excellence in product design.

Developed for Angel Shenzhen (one of China’s leading water appliance manufacturers) the A6pro design not just involves a much smaller footprint than its predecessor, but combines enhanced accessibility (UI can be seen from 2 directions regardless of placement), easier replacement of filters and more efficient product installation (huge time savings for service staff, able to install/repair devices much quicker).

Why brands may underperform with Millenials?
1. Some products become more relevant at older ages (i.e Pfizer’s pharmaceuticals)
2. Cultural trends are changing (i.e the declining importance of owning a car or the declining attraction of smoking)
3. Millenials want meaning: they expect brands to develop a clear story with product transparency and brand commitment to health and social issues.

The overall user-friendly design of the product family was well-received on the market, starting off Angel’s first steps towards a fully refreshed product portfolio.
