VeggieWorld Hong Kong 2020 Cancelled 28/04/2020

Dear supporters of VWHK:

Considering the COVI-19 situation, we are heartbroken to announce that VeggieWorld Hong Kong will not be on in 2020. As a result of uncertain times, we will fully support our management team’s decision to postpone all shows to 2021.
Meanwhile, operation in Hong Kong will be in suspension until further notice. We thank everyone’s enthusiastic supports over time to have made the successful debut edition of VeggieWorld Hong Kong in 2019 as well as your alignment in actions to create a better world by shifting to a vegan lifestyle.

In Jane Goodall's recent video message about the COVID-19 pandemic, she urged viewers to reflect human's relationship with wildlife and encouraging us to show love and compassion for the animals who are with us on this planet, “...our too-close relationship with wild animals in the markets or when we use them for entertainment has unleashed the terror and misery of new viruses.” (1)

A study suggests the underlying cause of the present pandemic is likely to be increased human contact with wildlife, wild animals that have adapted well to human-dominated environments also share more viruses with people. Rodents, bats and primates – which often live among people, and close to houses and farms – together were implicated as hosts for nearly 75% of all viruses. Bats alone have been linked to diseases like Sars, Nipah, Marburg and Ebola.

Not only our too-close relationship with wildlife that is problematic, but domesticated animals like cattle, sheep, dogs and goats also shared the highest number of viruses with humans, with eight times more animal-borne viruses than wild mammal species. (2)

Could adopt a plant-based diet collectively be the prevention of the next pandemic?

You have been cooking a lot in this , we get it. Here’s the easy peasy recipe to cheer yourself (kids too!) up with 4 simple ingredients. May the spirit of Easter be with you 🐣💚💛🧡

With Easter just around the corner, it’s the perfect time to get into your kitchen & whip up some of these super simple CHOCOLATE EASTER NEST🐰🍫
INGREDIENTS
- 100g dark chocolate
- 1 cup slithered almonds
- 1 cup rice puffs
- 1 packet of chocolate eggs .
METHOD
1. Melt chocolate
2. Combined all ingredients in bowl
3. Separate mixture in a muffin tin (silicone ones make the process much easier), press down in to centre to give the nest-like affect & place eggs in the centre.
4. Freeze for at least 20 minutes & they are ready to serve😋
