Now, shall we interest you with the following star lots to look:
LOT 1 DOMAINE ALAIN BURGUET Vosne Romanee 1er Cru Les Rouges du Dessus 2010
By the age of 14, Alain Burguet and his brother Gilles were, according to their father, done with school – by this time, they’d already spent many hours working alongside his father in the vineyards. Returning to Gevrey from his military service, Alain started his own domaine, initially with rented vines until he could start to accumulate land of his own. From the beginning, he practised organic farming, long before an official certification even existed! Alain’s sons, Jean-Luc and Eric joined the domaine in the late 90s and officially took the reins in 2011 and have converted the farming to biodynamics.
LOT 4 CHATEAU DE LA TOUR Clos Vougeot Grand Cru VV 2013
Chateau de La Tour, with a history dating back to 1889, is as exceptional as it is unique in its advantages. The largest landowner within the Clos de Vougeot (holding approximately 12% of the Grand Cru), de La Tour holds some of the finest vines within the Grand Cru. Very unusually within the Clos, their vineyards are all farmed organically, and have been for more than 20 years. Perhaps that’s the secret to the longevity of their vines, most of which are between 60 – 100 years old, by far the oldest within the Clos. They are also the only producer to have their winery located within the Clos!
LOT 5 DOMAINE CONFURON COTETIDOT Vosne Romanee 1er Cru Les Suchots 2015
The Confurons have been vignerons since the 17th century during the reign of Louis XIV. Their specialty was, and continues to be, vine selection and propagation. They led the way in identifying top selections massales and even have a Pinot Noir clone in their name: Pinot Confuron.
They have an impressive array of premier cru and grand cru sites including Vosne Suchots (they’re one of largest holders), Echezeaux, Clos Vougeot, and tiny plots of Charmes Chambertin and Mazis Chambertin.
Confuron-Coetetidot wines are built for the long haul. While pleasurable drinking now, it will need to be decanted.
