Uesugi Kenshin 上杉謙信

Known as the “Dragon of Echigo,” Uesugi Kenshin was a warlord deeply devoted to Bishamonten, the god of war. Kenshin is also assigned as the Queen of Spades, referencing historical theories suggesting that he may have actually been a woman.

EDO × SENGOKU KARUTA launches May 19 at 9:00 AM EDT on Kickstarter.

Edo Karuta has been refined for EDO V2, with updated colour, typography, and card back details developed to sit alongside the new Sengoku Karuta deck.

The original card back structure is preserved, while lightning motifs introduce visual energy and movement within the composition.

EDO × SENGOKU KARUTA PLAYING CARDS

A collaboration between MILTZ and Card Experiment.

Inspired by Japanese visual culture and historical figures from the Edo and Sengoku periods, the project explores the worldview of these eras through calligraphic composition, typography, and symbolic motifs.

The campaign features a refined edition of EDO KARUTA alongside the newly developed SENGOKU KARUTA deck.

Launching on Kickstarter on May 19 at 9:00 AM EDT.
