Every summer has a story, and so does mine too. Although the short one but still beautiful one...
Well, during my Aqua Aerobic I felt that crack again. The crack I felt 2 years ago in Dubrovnik but thankfully it was less intense this time, however still very painful. It was my knee. I fell down on my mat all in pain, trying to get up and to continue but I couldn't. My knee said; Toni it's over, you're done, it's time to fix me up, we can't go anymore like this. The doctor has confirmed the same too — I need surgery. So now I am waiting for the date of my surgery. Hopefully everything will work out well. I will devote all my time and energy to recovery. It will be a long sail, but I am mentally and physically ready to dive into the process. And to get back stronger...
My 2 months in Makarska were beautiful. I am richer for amazing memories and wonderful new people. While I am thankful for any one of them, my biggest highlight was meeting one amazing person and her amazing daughter — Daniela and Tereza. They're locals from Makarska, Daniela works here in the hotel Meteor on the reception for more than 20 years and to me she was my second mother there and the person I talked to the most. She is the heart of that hotel, I could listen to her for hours. The biggest takeaway I will always remember from her and that we both share together is;
"Toni, family is everything, take care for your family."
But that is not all. During my injury I needed a medical checkup from the orthopedist and I couldn't get the number. Then Daniela asked one of her friends for number of one nurse so I could schedule my appointment and to get to that orthopedist, and thanks to her I did. I couldn't look her in the eyes. I hugged her and sincerely thanked. One day, hopefully when I recover, I would like to knock on her door and at least to repay her somehow. I will never forget that act of hers...
They will always be in my heart. So if your ever mention Makarska to me, I will warmly smile and the first thing that will come to my mind will be always these two and Daniela's words;
"Toni, family is everything, take care for your family."...
