A Beautiful Start to Summer: Falstaff Honors Our Rosés

Today, we celebrate a significant milestone in the Korta Katarina Winery story.

In this year’s Falstaff Rosé Trophy, more than 850 rosé wines from across Europe were evaluated by the expert panel of Falstaff Magazine, one of the most respected authorities in the world of wine. Only a select group earned a place in the prestigious ‘Special Selection’.

With immense pride, we share that Rosé Penny has been awarded 93 points, and Classic Rosé 91 points, placing both among the highest rated rosés of the entire competition.

This achievement carries profound meaning for us. Korta Katarina was founded through the vision and generosity of Lee and Penny Anderson, whose love for Croatia and commitment to its people shaped the very soul of our winery. Their belief in the potential of Pelješac, its terroir, its heritage, and its future continues to guide every decision we make.

🍇 Rosé Penny, named in honor of Penny Anderson, reflects her elegance, warmth, and quiet strength. Crafted with a refined gastronomic sensibility, it represents a new stylistic chapter for our winery, one designed to stand confidently among the world’s most distinguished rosés. Its debut vintage earning 93 points from Falstaff is a powerful affirmation of that vision.

🍇 Classic Rosé, awarded 91 points, continues its thoughtful evolution. Brighter aromatics, expressive red fruit, and layers of citrus bring new precision and character while remaining true to the approachable Adriatic style that defines Korta Katarina.

We were delighted to welcome Sandra Lacković and the Hrvatska radiotelevizija - HRT Tourism show to Orebić this week. A special thank you as well to Mladen Đeldum from the Orebić Tourism Board for joining the visit and helping highlight the beauty and heritage of our region. We had a fantastic evening with Chef Toni Bjelko, who brought the Adriatic to the table with a sea‑inspired menu and thoughtful wine pairings. Each course paired seamlessly with Korta Katarina wines, showing how naturally Pelješac cuisine and local varietals complement one another.

We’re thrilled to share more wonderful news from Korta Katarina Winery. Our Babić 2023, released in its very first vintage, has been awarded an outstanding 93 Points and ranked among the Top 5 Babić wines in Croatia. This recognition comes from renowned wine critic Saša Špiranec and was featured in Jutarnji/Dobra Hrana, Croatia’s leading daily newspaper and culinary publication.

This achievement is especially meaningful for our founders, Lee and Penny Anderson, whose vision has always centered on honoring native Croatian varietals and elevating the Pelješac Peninsula on the world wine stage. The debut of Babić 2023 and its immediate national acclaim reflect the passion and dedication they’ve poured into Korta Katarina from the very beginning.

And as a reminder of another highlight this season, our Korta Katarina Rosé 2024 was recently named the #1 Rosé in Croatia at the Festival of the 100 Best Wines of Croatia. It remains a proud moment for our team and a beautiful expression of the Pelješac terroir we are so honored to represent.
