In cooperation with Underwater Heritage Institute in Sozopol (Bulgaria), a UNESCO Category 2 Centre, two weeks of underwater research in the northern part of Dugi Otok (Croatia) have successfully come to an end!

Conducted from 17 to 28 August, the research continued last year's successful cooperation and focused on deep-sea mapping of the seabed.

The aim of the project is to survey and document areas deeper than 60 metres, located in the open sea and difficult for divers to access.

The surveys were conducted using sophisticated scanning equipment, including a multibeam echosounder and side-scan sonar.

The most interesting and promising sites were then further investigated using the ROV (remotely operated underwater vehicle).

The analysis of the collected data is yet to follow, and we are already looking forward to new discoveries ๐Ÿ” and to continuing this valuable international cooperation in the next research season! ๐Ÿค๐ŸŒ๐ŸŒŠ

U Edukativno-prezentacijskom centru sv. Nikole juฤer je odrลพana djeฤja radionica โ€žPodvodni svijet: Istraลพivaฤka avanturaโ€ u sklopu gostujuฤ‡e izloลพbe โ€žVrhovi dubina โ€“ podvodna baลกtina Splitsko-dalmatinske ลพupanijeโ€.

ICUA Zadar Director Mladen Peลกiฤ‡ participated as a member of the international scientific team during the second archaeological research campaign on the ancient Fort-Royal 1 shipwreck near Cannes, France. Dating to around 180 BC, the shipwreck is one of the Mediterranean's most significant underwater archaeological sites.

This year's excavation revealed remarkable discoveries, including a rare wooden mechanism that may represent the world's oldest known hydraulic pump.
The mission was led by DRASSM โ€“ the French Ministry of Culture and Centre Camille Jullian (CNRS / Aix-Marseille University), bringing together leading experts and institutions from France, Spain and Croatia.

The participation of ICUA Zadar highlights the Centre's continued commitment to international scientific cooperation and the protection of the world's underwater cultural heritage.

Na svjetski poznatom arheoloลกkom nalaziลกtu Franina kod Premanture trenutno je u tijeku podvodno arheoloลกko istraลพivanje. Kod malog rta Franina, arheolozi Meฤ‘unarodnog centra za podvodnu arheologiju iz Zadra iskopavaju ostatke brodoloma velikog jedrenjaka s topovima iz kraja 16. stoljeฤ‡a. Istraลพivanja se provode sredstvima Ministarstva kulture i medija RH.
