What happens when cyber security moves beyond the digital world?

That question will be at the center of the fourth edition of Span Cyber Security Arena, taking place in Pical Resort 5*, Valamar Collection Poreč, from 14 to 16 April 2027.

Since its launch, Span Arena has welcomed more than 1,400 attendees and over 130 regional speakers and panelists, creating a platform for discussions on the most pressing cyber security topics.

This year, we'll examine how cyber risks intersect with critical infrastructure, operational technology, and the systems that keep modern society running. Through keynote lectures, expert panels, technical sessions, and practical case studies, we'll explore how organizations can strengthen resilience when cyber threats have real-world consequences.

We've been busy over the past week, sharing insights and joining conversations on some of today's biggest tech topics. 🙌

At Adria Security Summit, our CISO, Hrvoje Englman, took the stage to discuss what it takes to survive the AI cyberpocalypse, exploring how AI is reshaping the cyber security landscape and changing the speed, scale, and complexity of modern attacks. He also joined a panel discussion on cyber readiness and the next attack on the horizon.

At UnLock Rijeka, the conversation turned to how organizations can adopt AI effectively and responsibly. Ivana Baćac explored the journey from Cloud AI prototypes to advanced multi-agent systems, showing how organizations can turn simple AI ideas into practical business solutions, while Sven Celin discussed AI sovereignty, data control, and what it takes to stay competitive in an AI-driven world.

[SPAN AWARDS]
Span Cyber Security Arena has been recognized as Cyber Security Event of the Year at Croatian Security Days.

Over the past three editions, Span Arena has brought together more than 1,400 participants and 130 regional speakers and panelists, creating a space for discussions on cyber resilience, emerging threats, and the future of cyber security.

Span's CISO and the conference's Program Director, Hrvoje Englman, accepted the award and noted: 'From our first Zagreb edition to today’s Span Arena, we have consistently raised the standard of our program. Guided by our ‘Answering the Key Questions’ philosophy, we bring experts together to address critical security challenges with practical responses to evolving threats. I’m delighted to have the opportunity to invite you to next year’s Span Arena conference, taking place from 14 to 16 April at the same venue.'

[SPAN THE INTELLIGENT BUSINESS]
The Intelligent Business is a one-day conference, bringing together business leaders, technology experts and practitioners to explore the forces shaping how organizations operate, compete and grow. This year's edition focused on a question increasingly relevant to every business: how to build an organization that can make better decisions, adapt faster and turn technology into tangible business value.

That question set the tone for yesterday's conference hosted by Span and Span Evolve. Opening the event, Span's Senior Director for Enterprise Business Solutions, Petar Galeković, and Span Evolve's Managing Director, Kresimir Mlinaric, welcomed guests and set the stage for a day focused on preparing businesses for what comes next.

Span CEO Nikola Dujmovic examined the changing management agenda and why resilience is becoming just as important as efficiency.

The conversation continued with Joze Rant, CFO at Aircash, who offered a perspective on decision-making in a highly dynamic industry where a single mistake can cost millions of euros. Representing Microsoft, Ratko Mutavdzic delivered a simple but important message: no data, no AI. Organisations looking to create value with AI must first build a strong data foundation.

We also heard a unique perspective from Marko Rakovac, Executive Head of the Croatian Mountain Rescue Service (HGSS), who spoke about making decisions when the cost of a mistake is measured in human lives. Alejandro Gutierrez (FourVision) shared how organisations can introduce AI into HR processes safely, responsibly and with clear business value.

Antonio Vlašić, Rok Žganjar, Šimun Šestak, Luka Volarević, Marina Baričević and Magdalena Kopić rounded off the day with practical use cases and live demonstrations, covering everything from AI in Business Central and agentic AI to real-time intelligence in Microsoft Fabric and AI-powered voice interactions in Dynamics 365.

Our customer is a manufacturing company that relied on centralized data warehouse for reporting. As part of the integration project, those BI solutions also had to be migrated.

But what happens when you're ready to start the migration of BI solutions, only to discover that they don't have access to customer's databases?

Spoiler alert: a 36-hour call with the vendor's support team responsible for managing those databases.

Over the past couple of decades, we’ve seen several waves of technological change, but AI is different in one important way: the pace and its impact on people.

At this year's MBF, Span's CEO Nikola Dujmovic joined Sinisa Krajnovic (ENT - Ericsson Nikola Tesla), Goran Kovacevic (Infinum), Ivana Krajinović (Večernji list) and Dejan Turk (A1 Hrvatska d.o.o.) for a panel on what it takes to lead organisations through AI-driven transformation.

The conversation kept coming back to one point: the harder part is not adopting the technology. It is bringing people along, building a culture that welcomes change and keeping trust and focus while business models, structures and skills shift around them.

The questions raised on this panel will not be settled any time soon, and that is what makes them worth discussing. Thanks to Master Business Forum and to the panelists for starting the conversation well.

The conversation around AI is no longer about its potential, but about measurable business impact.

On Tuesday, the Njemačko-hrvatska industrijska i trgovinska komora / AHK Kroatien and Span welcomed business and technology professionals to the Span Cyber Security Center for a Business Breakfast focused on how organizations are moving from AI readiness to real business transformation.

The morning began with opening remarks from Timo Pleyer, on behalf of AHK, and Mladen Maras, Senior Director of Software & AI Solutions at Span.

During the event, Bruno Brozović gave a presentation demonstrating how AI agents can be manipulated in real-world scenarios and shared practical recommendations for securing them without limiting their potential to drive value.

The discussion continued with a panel moderated by Mladen Maras, featuring Thomas Blum (SAUTER) and Joško Šugar (OTP banka Hrvatska). Together, they shared perspectives on moving AI from experimentation into everyday operations, the challenges organizations face along the way, and the opportunities AI creates across industries.

[CASE STUDY]
When our customer acquired another company, the work did not end with the deal itself.

The integration effort spanned continents, teams, and technologies. As part of the project, new office locations in Mumbai and Tokyo also needed to be prepared for the upcoming migration.

One Span colleague volunteered to take on the task in person. Before long, he was on-site, working on migration plans and coordinating activities needed for a successful transition, while the team in Zagreb provided remote support.
