Project Meeting Overview | ADRIONWIND Partners Gather in Athens
On 14–15 July 2026, ADRIONWIND project partners gathered in Athens, Greece, for the latest Transnational Project Meeting, kindly hosted by our Greek partners. 🀝
During the two-day meeting, consortium members reviewed the progress achieved across the project's work packages, discussed the development of the Offshore Wind Energy Collaboration Network and the Transnational Research & Innovation Strategy, evaluated communication and financial management activities, and planned the next phase of implementation.
Special attention was dedicated to capacity building, knowledge transfer, governance, and the coordination of future project actions. 🌍
The meeting once again demonstrated the strength of transnational cooperation and the shared commitment of all partners to advancing innovation, sustainable offshore renewable energy, and regional collaboration within the Adriatic-Ionian area. ⚑

The second day of the ADRIONWIND project meeting was dedicated to strengthening cooperation through capacity building, knowledge transfer, and strategic planning. 🀝

Partners reviewed the implementation of Work Package 3, discussing ongoing activities, identifying current needs, and defining the action plan for the next implementation period.

The meeting also included a Steering Committee session, during which partners agreed on the main action points, upcoming deliverables, and preparations for the next transnational project meeting. πŸ“‹

Day 1 Recap | ADRIONWIND Project Meeting – Athens

The first day of the ADRIONWIND Transnational Project Meeting in Athens brought together project partners to review progress, exchange ideas, and coordinate the next steps towards achieving the project's objectives. 🀝

Discussions focused on the implementation of Work Package 1, including the establishment of the Offshore Wind Energy Collaboration Network, its current status, key indicators, and activities required for its successful completion.

Partners also reviewed the progress of Work Package 2, dedicated to the development of the Transnational Research & Innovation Strategy, discussing its content, expected outcomes, and the roadmap for finalisation.

The afternoon session addressed project management topics, including financial reporting procedures and audit requirements, followed by an overview of communication activities and dissemination results presented by the University of Donja Gorica. The day concluded with a joint recap session and planning of upcoming project milestones, reinforcing the strong cooperation among partners. 🌍

The next ADRIONWIND project meeting will take place on 13–14 July 2026 in Athens, Greece, bringing together project partners from across the Adriatic-Ionian region to review progress achieved so far and coordinate the next phases of implementation. 🀝

Hosted by our Greek project partners, the meeting will serve as an important opportunity to discuss the project's results and achievements, exchange experiences and good practices, and align activities planned for the upcoming period.

How can we accelerate offshore wind development in the Adriatic-Ionian region? 🌊⚑
During the ADRIONWIND Focus Group, experts from academia, industry, public authorities and civil society came together to discuss the regulatory, financial and social conditions needed to support the offshore wind sector. From improving governance and attracting investment to developing new skills and strengthening public engagement, participants shared valuable insights that will contribute to the ADRIONWIND Transnational Research & Innovation Strategy.
Together, we are building the foundations for a more sustainable, innovative and resilient energy future.

The ADRIONWIND Focus Group on Infrastructure, Ports and Supply Chains brought together key stakeholders to explore how ports, logistics networks and regional supply chains can support the future deployment of offshore wind in the Adriatic-Ionian region. The discussion highlighted the importance of cross-border cooperation, infrastructure readiness and stronger industrial collaboration to create a competitive and resilient offshore wind ecosystem.
The ideas and recommendations gathered will help shape the ADRIONWIND Transnational Research & Innovation Strategy and strengthen regional cooperation for the energy transition.

On 18 June, ADRIONWIND was presented by ARTI at the international conference β€œAdvancing the Sustainable Blue Economy in the Mediterranean” in Ravenna, bringing the project's experience into a discussion involving experts, institutions and stakeholders from across Europe.

From floating offshore technologies to investment opportunities and transnational cooperation, the event highlighted the importance of working across borders to unlock the full potential of offshore renewable energy in the Adriatic-Ionian region and beyond. ⚑🌍

During 14-16 of May, at Green Fair in Bari, ADRIONWIND was featured in the panel β€œBlue Economy as a Driver for Energy Innovation”, bringing together institutions, companies, universities, and stakeholders to discuss energy transition and the sustainable development of blue-tech value chains.

From offshore wind and smart ports to digital technologies, skills, and transnational cooperation, the discussion highlighted how important it is to build connected and collaborative ecosystems to support the growth of renewable energy across the Adriatic-Ionian region.

On 15 April 2026, the University of Donja Gorica (UDG) organized an ADRIONWIND Dissemination Event, bringing together representatives of partner universities and institutions from across Europe. 🌍

During the event, mr Danilo BulatoviΔ‡ presented the ADRIONWIND project, its key objectives, planned activities, expected impact, and achievements realized so far within the project framework. ⚑

Earlier this year, on 24 February, ARTI - with the support of EPBiH - organised the ADRIONWIND focus group on Innovation & Tech Development, bringing together stakeholders to discuss the future of offshore wind in the region.

Key takeaways:

⚑ Huge potential, but regulatory clarity is needed to unlock investments and accelerate project deployment.

βš“ Ports and supply chains are critical enablers. Without adapted infrastructure and specialised skills, offshore wind risks remaining only a strategic vision.

🀝 Adriatic cooperation and public engagement matter to ensure coordinated planning and sustainable development.

➑️ The challenge is no longer if offshore wind will happen, but how fast we can make it happen.
