Cliff House or MD House is a product of its landscape and the views that it seeks. This house is like a photographer looking for the right perspective. Physically immersed and anchored in the mountains while desiring views of the bay, all in the while negotiating the city below. A tropical house that with the goal of engaging with its landscape, establishing a positive and negative relationship with the sun. Allowing it in at certain times and keeping it at bay when it is at its harshest. The rotation of the house cuts the angle of the sun so the harshest sunlights are not frontal. The planning of the house maximizes the terrain for gardens and shielded spaces that allow for the enjoyment of the outdoors.
