⎮ENG⎮ Last week MOME Innovation Center held its very first Future Materials Conference!

The MOME Budapest Campus hosted
→ 2 keynotes,
→ 5 panel discussions,
→ presented 15 outstanding speakers and welcomed
→ more than 200 attendees at the conference.

The impressive line-up gave us a glimpse into the future of material innovation from nanofibers to circular textile design.

We are proud that the Budapest Design Material Library has been part of this conference with two workshops, and from our parent company, Material ConneXion, we also welcomed representatives at the conference.

The day has been filled with inspiring talks and insightful discussions, which we hope will further material innovation initiatives for a more sustainable future.

The Innovation Center also announced two new open calls in conscious textile research in partnership with Nanushka - check them out!

⎮ENG⎮ We are proud that an important agreement in the life of the Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design was signed in our Material Library.

Our university and one of the most widely recognised Hungarian fashion brands, Nanushka, started a collaborative initiative to find solutions for the sustainable use of textiles with the MOME Innovation Center and to experiment with new raw materials for the fashion industry.

“We finally got to a point where a globally renowned local brand and a local university with international ambitions start a joint research and development project, joining their powers to create new intellectual property and value on the market”, says Gergely Böszörményi-Nagy, President of the MOME Foundation, in an article from Portfolio.hu.

“This partnership is one of the most important results of our work towards the renewal of MOME”, he added.

MOME works with several international companies, but the agreement with Nanushka makes it possible for local industry professionals to see their knowledge and creativity manifested through the garments of an internationally sought-after, Hungarian fashion brand.

Art is Business Magazine spoke with designer Péter Molnár, director of the MOME Design Institute, on the occasion of the Future Materials Conference starting on September 15.

"The future has already begun: just take a look at the diploma work of the graduates of the Moholy-Nagy University of Arts (MOME).

They are enthusiastic, creative, and ambitious. And of course, sustainability and environmental protection are not an issue for them" - says Péter Molnár about the university's students.

And they are also a little naive, he adds, which can be particularly good and can come handy, as thanks to their naivety, they can overcome the limitations that a person takes on over the years - based on bad experiences - and which hold them back.

Lelkesek és kreatívak, ambiciózusak és a fenntarthatóság, a környezetvédelem nem is kérdés a számukra – mondja az egyetem diákjairól Molnár Péter.

És kicsit naivak is, teszi hozzá, ami kifejezetten jó és hasznos, hiszen e naivságnak köszönhetően tudják leküzdeni azokat a korlátokat, amelyeket az évek során az ember – a rossz tapasztalatok alapján – magára szed, és amelyek hátráltatják.
