One of the most fulfilling and inspiring experiences is to see how students can create absolutely unique masterpieces themselves with me as teacher being near by and helping only with giving some directions. Oxana Krivchenko attended silk painting workshops last year, and got really interested to develop her skills further, and this is the result. Keep on Oxana, silk painting is very rewarding craft and Your'e great in that!

As a flashback of 2019 there were some inspiring events worth sharing and remembering. As a part of social responsibility project of Silk paintings and workshops by Sandra Āboliņa there was an event in Eastern Hungary, in Berettyóújfalu at Real Pearl Foundation Igazgyöngy Alapítvány - Berettyóújfalu last summer. This was one of the most rewarding and at the same time challenging workshops I ever had, because participants were artists and arts teachers. They learned silk painting techniques in order to use them in their community afterwards.

Real Pearl Foundation is a huge advocate of anti-poverty and anti-racism work in Hungary, and the foundation does much of this work through art education and small business opportunities.

A vision of Silk paintings and workshops by Sandra Āboliņa is social responsible creative business, that inspires people from different cultures and backgrounds, and part of the income is used to organise free classes for underprivileged groups, in an effort to increase arts education and further arts and crafts skills. This workshop was a part of this goal.

Sharing some moments from last Saturday's silk painting workshop "Under the sea". Gutta silk outline technique and salt effects were used to create under sea patterns. This was the last workshop in this spring session. Right now on my table are some individual classes, charity project and custom made orders. :)

Tomorrow at Gross Arnold Galéria Kávézó at the silk painting workshop we will take a journey into ocean - discovering under the sea world. Very excited to play with salt technique effects on the silk!

We got inspired from Frida Kahlo, her art, colour combinations and Mexican folk art at the workshop last Saturday, April 27th at Gross Arnold Galéria Kávézó We created silk decors by using gutta outliners in different colours, ironed fixed, water based silk colours and textile markers for some vibrant accents.

I’m sharing an article about British International School Budapest (BISB) 2019 Gala event with a charitable goals. I was happy to devote a free gift voucher for Silk paintings and workshops by Sandra Āboliņa to a raffle. An auction and raffle delivered nearly 4 million forints to support BISB charitable goals.

* 10% of income of silk painting workshops goes to a charity and organizing free classes for unprivileged groups of people

With a spectacular backdrop of the Danube and Castle Hill, the British International School Budapest Parent Teacher Association hosted its annual Benefit Gala on 6th April to support the BISB PTA’s charitable goals.

One of the participants of Easter workshop was only 7 years old. Sylas from the Seattle, USA was visiting Budapest with his mom and came to try out silk painting. He made wonderful stained glass style painting with vibrant colours. Other techniques used at the workshop - aquarelle grunt base for adding fine details like bunnies fur.
