A place does not become meaningful simply because it is beautiful, historic or well designed. It becomes meaningful when people find a reason to connect with it.
That is where experience design matters, not by adding more, but by understanding what already exists and finding thoughtful ways for people to participate in it. Culture, conversations, food, art, stories, communities and even small moments of discovery can change how a place is perceived and remembered.
For me, placemaking is increasingly about this: turning spaces into experiences, and experiences into reasons to return.
