Becoming a freediving instructor isn't about collecting another certification—it's about learning how to teach, communicate, and take responsibility for someone else's safety.
You'll spend hours refining demonstrations, understanding different learning styles, solving problems under pressure, and realizing that being a good diver doesn't automatically make you a good instructor.
The best instructors aren't always the deepest divers. They're the ones who can explain complex skills simply, create a calm learning environment, and help students build confidence in the water.
Teaching freediving is a skill of its own—and like diving itself, it's something you never stop improving.

The people who shape us aren't always the ones we admire. Sometimes they're the ones who show us exactly who we never want to become.
My first freediving instructor gave me an experience I'd never want another student to have. Looking back, I'm grateful—not because it was good, but because it gave me a purpose.
It made me realise that teaching isn't about proving how good you are in the water. It's about how you make others feel, how you build their confidence, and how much you care about their progress and safety.
That's why I spend far more time improving my teaching than chasing personal depth or athletic achievements. Records will eventually be broken and forgotten, but the way you influence someone's journey can stay with them for a lifetime.
If I'm remembered for anything, I hope it's not as a great athlete, but as an instructor who made people fall in love with freediving.

One of Bali's lesser-known underwater experiences is swimming through its natural cave systems. Carved into volcanic rock and limestone over thousands of years, these swim-throughs offer a completely different perspective of the island.
As light filters through the openings, the scenery changes with every meter, creating a unique dive that's as much about the landscape as the marine life around it.
