Gili Islands
The Gili (Trawangan, Meno and Air) Islands have become the other favourite paradise island escape from Bali. Three small islands, surrounded by coral, the Gilis of Lombok’s west coast area fast becoming one of her main drawcards. Dive centers with all the high tech equipment and professional instructors ensure that visiting divers at all levels of experience and ability can dive in waters that have more varieties of fish than ay where in the world.

Gili Trawangan, now appears to head the list as the most popular island, it has long had a reputation as the “party” island mainly through a concrentrated and cetral foreshore area of restaurants, dive operations hotels including some luxury boutique choices.

Gili Meno, still the quietest island is a place to escape to and although it has smaller list of accommodation options those that it has are tending towards a more up market clientele. Snorkeling off beaches of pure white sand the coral is superb.

Gili Air, has the larger local population and while it has more of a live in feeling than the other two islands for some that is quite possibly its attraction. on Gili Air it’s possible to likewise enjoy the marine possibilites bu also one can absorb some of the local culture missing on the other islands

The Mother Temple of Besakih, or Pura Besakih, in the village of Besakih on the slopes of Mount Agung in eastern Bali, Indonesia, is the most important, the largest and holiest temple of Hindu religion in Bali,[1] and one of a series of Balinese temples. Perched nearly 1000 meters up the side of Gunung Agung, it is an extensive complex of 23 separate but related temples with the largest and most important being Pura Penataran Agung. This is built on six levels, terraced up the slope. This entrance is an imposing Candi Bentar (split gateway), and beyond it the even more impressive Kori Agung is the gateway to the second courtyard.[2]

Tanah Lot is a rock formation off the Indonesian island of Bali. It is home of a pilgrimage temple, the Pura Tanah Lot (literally “Tanah Lot temple”), and a popular tourist and cultural icon. Located in Tabanan, about 20 kilometres (12 mi) from Denpasar, the temple sits on a large offshore rock which has been shaped continuously over the years by the ocean tide. Tanah Lot is claimed to be the work of the 15th-century priest Nirartha.
The temple is one of seven sea temples around the Balinese coast. Each of the sea temples were established within eyesight of the next to form a chain along the south-western coast. In 1980, the temple’s rock face was starting to crumble and the area around and inside the temple started to become dangerous. The Japanese government provided a loan to the Indonesian government (approximately USD $130 million) to conserve the historic temple and other significant locations around Bali. As a result, over one third of Tanah Lot’s ‘rock’ is actually cleverly disguised artificial rock. [Source: Wikipedia]
