The alleged misuse of PT PMAs as a means for foreign nationals to obtain residence permits has come under increasing scrutiny in Bali.

The Governor of Bali has even proposed discontinuing the use of KBLI 70209 for PT PMAs that are considered not to be carrying out genuine business activities.

The Indonesian government has officially introduced new fees for several citizenship services under Government Regulation (PP) No. 30 of 2026, which takes effect on August 1, 2026.

Several services will see fee increases, including the naturalization application for foreign nationals seeking Indonesian citizenship, with the fee rising to IDR 75 million, and citizenship applications based on marriage, with the fee increasing to IDR 25 million.

On the other hand, the government has also abolished several fees, including those for naturalization applications by foreign nationals who are granted Indonesian citizenship in the interest of the state or in recognition of their outstanding contributions to Indonesia.

The Cost of Establishing Large-Capital PTs and PT PMAs Has Increased Significantly.

The Indonesian government has revised the Non-Tax State Revenue (PNBP) fees for company incorporation under Government Regulation (PP) No. 30 of 2026, which takes effect on August 1, 2026.

For small and medium-sized PTs, the incorporation fees remain unchanged. Companies with authorized capital of up to IDR 25 million will continue to pay IDR 300,000, while those with authorized capital above IDR 25 million up to IDR 1 billion will continue to pay IDR 600,000.

The most significant changes apply to large-capital PTs. Under the previous regulation, all PTs with authorized capital exceeding IDR 1 billion were subject to a single incorporation fee of IDR 1.1 million.

Under the new regulation, this category has been divided into two tiers:

Authorized capital above IDR 1 billion up to IDR 5 billion: IDR 1.5 million. Authorized capital exceeding IDR 5 billion: IDR 5 million, representing an increase of approximately 354.5% over the previous fee.

Starting in 2027, the rules governing the appointment of taxpayers’ authorized representatives will change.

A company’s internal tax staff will no longer be automatically eligible to represent the company solely because they hold a tax brevet certification or have an educational background in taxation.

Under Minister of Finance Regulation (PMK) No. 44 of 2026, the government has introduced clearer requirements regarding who may serve as a taxpayer’s authorized representative, including a transition period until December 31, 2026.

Make sure your company understands these changes now to ensure its tax administration continues to run smoothly and remains fully compliant with the applicable regulations.
