First quarter of 2020 is almost over. Whoah! π€©
It's time to reflect & adjust, so let's talk about EMPLOYEE SATISFACTION SURVEYS, EMPLOYEE HAPPINESS, COMPANY CULTURE, AND BUSINESS SUCCESS πͺ
We love seeing more and more businesses trying to get their company culture right. Although and admirable process, it presents its challenges.
In this process, some businesses choose to use employee satisfaction surveys to find out how to make employees happy. There is a bunch of things that can go wrong here.
For example, while happiness is important, it might often become fetishised. It is easy to loose focus of the main business goals when we're trying to make everyone happy. Our strategy might become inconsistent. Equally, survey might just not be the right tool to have real conversations and make real impact.
Before you send that next survey, we suggest to think about these three questions:
1. What are you trying to achieve in business?
2. What are you trying to measure?
3. What is the best way to measure?
Gallup's study suggests that "treating employees as stakeholders of their own future and the company's future" is the way to go π

Merely measuring workers' contentment and catering to their wants often fails to improve business outcomes.
