This year, Deloitte Indonesia marked Plastic Free July by collaborating with Jejakin to deliver a series of sustainability-focused activities that encouraged colleagues to adopt more sustainable habits while inspiring greater environmental awareness and action.

On 16 July, colleagues kicked off the initiative with a carbon calculation webinar, where they were introduced to our carbon calculator platform and gained insights into of carbon footprints and the importance of reducing emissions in our daily lives.

The initiative continued on 23 July with a Plastic Upcycling workshop where participants learned how to transform plastic waste into unique flower vases, followed by a flower arrangement session that demonstrated how recycled materials can be given a new purpose. AI is scaling fast in banking, but governance is struggling to keep up. As adoption shifts from experimentation to enterprise-wide deployment, banks are unlocking efficiency, resilience, and growth while facing rising data, regulatory, cyber and reputational risks.

Deloitte Access Economics latest research, Banking on trust: AI governance for growth, resilience and scale, shows that stronger AI governance is linked to broader AI deployment and higher revenue growth, positioning governance as a growth enabler rather than a brake on innovation.

Key takeaways:
• 63% of bank employees now use AI weekly (up 2x in one year)
• 87% of global banks have scope to materially strengthen AI governance
• Only 6 in 10 banks have risk monitoring in place after implementation of traditional and generative AI; this drops to 4 in 10 for agentic AI
• Banks with optimised AI governance see 31% higher AI adoption and 5x broader implementation across business units
The challenge isn’t just technical, it’s organisational. Many banks have policies in place, but lack clear accountability, capability and consistent ex*****on. As AI becomes core to transformation, the governance gap is becoming a performance gap.

Banks that lead on trustworthy AI will scale faster, build trust, and unlock sustainable value. Closing the governance gap is now critical to scaling AI safely and at scale.

At Deloitte, stepping into consulting is about leveraging your existing strengths, embracing continuous learning, and contributing in new ways.

“Be curious. Be reliable. Be yourself. Your industry experience is not something to overcome, it is often your greatest differentiator.”

For Clarissa Turner, joining Deloitte from leading large-scale healthcare technology transformation programmes marked the beginning of an exciting new career. She found a path that combined her experience, curiosity, and love for working with people with a passion for solving complex problems and navigating organisational change.

While the transition required a significant mindset shift – from driving success within a single organisation to advising diverse clients, Clarissa realised that strengths in building trusted relationships, navigating complex stakeholder environments, and leading through uncertainty were highly relevant to consulting.

Her advice for women considering a move into consulting is to “embrace the opportunity”. The skills, perspective, and leadership experiences you have built throughout your career can create meaningful impact in consulting.
