"Through this programme, will deepen their understanding of the palm oil industry, experience its realities firsthand, share authentic stories from the ground, and champion the livelihoods of smallholders."

With this spirit, CPOPC Board of Directors welcomed the batch 2 to the Induction Week Programme!

The have officially embarked on their learning journey across Malaysia and Indonesia and ready to dive into the world of palm oil and discover the stories behind one of the world's most important commodities.

From different countries🇮🇩🇲🇾🇵🇰🇮🇳🇬🇭 and different corners of the world 🌍, these young leaders come together with one shared purpose: to learn, connect, and become part of a new generation that champions informed conversations about palm oil.

This is only the beginning.

CPOPC toward Stronger with Costa Rica🇨🇷

CPOPC continues to expand its engagement with palm oil producing countries, including in Latin America, as part of its mandate to foster cooperation, knowledge-sharing, and sustainable development across the palm oil sector.

CPOPC held a courtesy meeting with Mr. Francisco José Masís Holdridge, Chargé d’Affaires of the Embassy of Costa Rica in Jakarta, and welcomed Costa Rica’s interest in closer cooperation and shared the strategic value of CPOPC membership, including access to platforms for policy dialogue, technical exchange, smallholder capacity-building, and international advocacy.

CPOPC also shared its ongoing contribution to supporting palm oil producing countries in Latin America, including through capacity-building initiatives for smallholders. In Honduras, CPOPC is facilitating the upcoming Good Agricultural Practices training to support more sustainable, productive, and resilient smallholder practices.

This reflects CPOPC’s continued commitment to advancing practical cooperation, knowledge-sharing, and inclusive sustainability efforts among palm oil producing countries.

CPOPC participated in the 13th Singapore Dialogue on Sustainable World Resources (SWR) in Singapore under the theme “Resilient Commodities: Innovation and New Markets.”

Secretary General Mdm. Izzana Salleh, joined Panel 1: New Markets for ASEAN Commodities, which discussed ASEAN exporters’ responses to the evolving global market through market diversification, stronger South-South trade, and greater focus on domestic consumption and value creation. In the discussion, CPOPC highlighted palm oil as a strategic commodity linked to trade, food and energy security, downstream development, and sustainability regulations.

Mdm. Izzana emphasized that “The future of ASEAN commodities is not just about finding new buyers, but about building a more resilient and inclusive trade model where sustainability remains fair, science-based, and supportive of smallholders.”

CPOPC’s participation reinforced the role of palm oil in ASEAN’s broader discussion on resilient commodities and sustainable trade, while emphasizing that sustainability implementation must be credible, practical, and inclusive for producers and smallholders.

CPOPC had opportunity to spoke at ASEAN Palm Oil Conference (ASPOC) 2026 during Palmex Jakarta 2026 on the theme International Cooperation for Sustainable Palm Oil.

“Smallholders must remain at the heart of the palm oil sector, ensuring that no one is left behind, as palm oil continues to play an important role in economic growth and livelihoods. Ensuring smallholder inclusion is essential for credible and lasting sustainability.”

Represented by Deputy Secretary General, Dr. Musdhalifah Machmud, CPOPC highlighted its ongoing advocacy and international cooperation efforts through global platforms, regional partnerships, and engagement with key stakeholders to strengthen sustainable palm oil development. Dr. Musdhalifah also emphasized the importance of addressing negative narratives surrounding palm oil with factual and updated information, while ensuring smallholders remain at the center of the industry’s sustainability journey.

The meeting aimed to advance mutual understanding and strengthen cooperation among palm oil producing countries and our strategic role in the evolving global palm oil landscape. As a collective platform for palm oil producing countries, CPOPC aims to broaden dialogue with government institutions to strengthen shared priorities, amplify producing countries’ voices, and advance more coordinated cooperation in the global palm oil sector.

Another Step Forward for Smallholder Empowerment!👩🏻‍🌾👨🏻‍🌾🌴

CPOPC conducted a GAP Training in Pasangkayu, West Sulawesi, empowering 67 smallholders and extension officers with essential skills in Good Agricultural Practices (GAP). The programme is co-organized with Astra Agro Lestari () , Malaysian Palm Oil Board (), and Riset Perkebunan Nusantara ().

Guided by experienced trainers, participants are learning key aspects of sustainable plantation management, from nursery and land preparation to pest and disease control, fertilization, pruning, soil and water conservation, and farm financial management, along with the importance of smallholder organization.

The learning goes beyond the classroom, with field visits that demonstrate best practices in action and participants actively sharing experiences, discussing challenges, and learning from one another.

Through this initiative, CPOPC reaffirms its commitment to advancing smallholder capacity, strengthening productivity, and supporting a more sustainable and resilient palm oil sector.

🤝 Strengthening collaboration with Papua New Guinea 🇵🇬

CPOPC held a courtesy meeting with H.E. Simon Namis, Ambassador of Papua New Guinea to the Republic of Indonesia, to further deepen cooperation with PNG as a CPOPC member country.

The meeting reaffirmed CPOPC’s role as a platform for producing countries to exchange perspectives, address shared challenges, and strengthen collective advocacy for the palm oil sector. CPOPC also introduced the GFP-SPO as a key initiative to support sustainability frameworks among producing countries, particularly as PNG currently does not have a national certification system. Both sides further exchanged views on Special Economic Zones (SEZ) in PNG, with CPOPC exploring potential areas to support its development.

Moving forward, CPOPC remains committed to working closely with Papua New Guinea to advance practical cooperation, strengthen the voice of producing countries, and support the sustainable development of the palm oil sector.

Another milestone in CPOPC’s commitment to strengthening smallholders!👩🏻‍🌾👨🏻‍🌾🌴

CPOPC continued its Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) Training in Kotawaringin Lama, Central Kalimantan, Indonesia, in collaboration with Bumitama Gunajaya Agro (BGA), MPOB, and Riset Perkebunan Nusantara (RPN).

The two-day programme brought together 50 smallholders to strengthen their practical knowledge and capacity in key areas of oil palm productivity, including:
🌿 Seedling and land preparation
🐛 Pest and disease management
🌾 Fertilization practices
💧 Pruning, soil and water conservation
💼 Financial management

Beyond the classroom, participants joined field practice provide the participants to have a discussion, where they shared challenges and received practical solutions from trainers.

Through this initiative, CPOPC reaffirms its commitment to advancing smallholder capacity, strengthening productivity, and supporting a more sustainable and resilient palm oil sector.
