Yagasu welcomed the guests from Voyageur de Monde to conduct mangrove tour in North Sumatra. The mangrove tour activities was designing to discover the ecological, social, and economic value in each village partner. First day started from KNO airport and heading to Desa Tanjung Rejo. On this day the guest introduced to CBRU (Carbon Biodiversity and Research Unit) site, where the guest could see the different species of mangrove and well-understand it’s capacity to storage the carbon for climate change mitigation. The trip continued to Desa Tanjung Rejo to explore some economic activities such as making batik with natural dyes, cooking mangrove foods and producing plastic recycle. These new alternative economic activites are mostly running by women and have helping them to enhance their income. On the second day they visited the outer island in North Sumatra named Pulau Berhala, which located in Malacca Strait for enjoying trekking, snorkling, seeing the turtle breeding, and so much time playing on the beach. The guests have planted mangrove seeds more than 200 trees in Desa Lubuk Kertang on the last day of trip. The planting activity is a form of their commitment to take a part on mangrove conservation. This three days trip allows the guests explored closely the mangrove forest and would have a better understanding on how the mangrove forest supports the living of coastal communities.
