The world is facing more and more complex problems today that need to be tackled creatively and innovatively. Not a creative you say? We don’t believe that and you shouldn’t too. You don’t need to hold a creative title on your business card and you don’t need to graduate from a design school to be creative. Being creative is in everyone’s blood, it’s an innate ability that you have since birth, but the society tells you otherwise.

Working in silos will not solve today’s problems—working together will. But there’s a way for us to collaborate healthily, playfully, and effectively.

We’re trained to make decisions and we’re so good at it. But, we’re not trained to discover many many many many ideas before jumping quickly to make those decisions. If you want different solutions you have to change the way you work.

No you don’t need to be able to draw or design beautiful stuff—it’s the mindset and the way you think that we will train in this support group. We’ll do creative warm-ups before we jump into the ideation process. We’ll learn not to judge our own ideas and other people’s ideas. We’ll learn to work together—alone. We’ll learn to listen and to build on the ideas of others. We’ll learn to be visual thinkers (don’t worry if you never draw anything in your life—but we bet you have one way or another).

Drawing letters.

Almost everything is built from the inside out. Gotta have a strong core—whether it’s an architecture, a person, or a brand.

An organization with a strong brand essence have a good connection within the organization, they know themselves well, and can communicate and serve the community or audience with great clarity and authenticity.

So inspired by the book, “Let My People Go Surfing” written by the founder of Patagonia, Yvon Chouinard.

Do the math here, if all you care about in your business is the bottomline, and you keep extracting from the earth and constantly abusing it, soon enough the earth will give in. And guess what, no earth = no life (wanna move to Mars? be my guest). How can your business operate when you no longer have the earth to hold your business? What’s the point?

So let’s do our part here, less bad is not good. Be good, be a responsible human, be an ethical business. Stand for something. Learn from Patagonia...

Signs of an unhealthy work culture:

1. Meetings before or after meetings show that there is a lack of trust and transparency in the organization

2. People talk about people instead of projects. When people are happy at work they are excited about the possibilities of the projects they are working on. They are filled with curiosity, busy doing explorations and experiments, digging deep to find fresh & good solutions, and all that jazz 😃 They don’t want to waste their time talking about people behind their back. They are solid! Building each other up 👍🏻

When problems arise, they talk about it, focusing on the bigger picture. Trying to find the roots of the problem and then try to find a solution together.

So before anything else... find the purpose of the organization and make sure the people who work in your organization have aligned purpose and values with your organization.

We at CauseLab want happy and healthy people living in harmony with themselves, other people and all living creatures and the environment. We’re here because we wanna be a mindful force for change.
