Wamena is the capital of the Jaya Wijaya district located in the Baliem valley, Irian Jaya. Wamena is located at altitude of 1.600m above sea level, on the middle of Jaya Wijaya mountain. Temperatures could reach 10-15 degrees Celsius at night. The local people of Wamena are the Dani tribe, estimated 250,000 people. Transportation that is available to reach Wamena is only by plane from Sentani airport, Jayapura. In August for every year the government of Wamena holds "Baliem Valley Cultural Festival" for three consecutive days that usual coincided with the celebration of independence of the Republic of Indonesia.

Exotic Mentawai | Jan 17th-22nd, 2017

The Mentawai is a cluster of islands that are geographically located in the Indian Ocean and being administered as regency within the West Sumatra province since 1999. It is also a chain of about seventy islands and the four large islands are South Pagai, North Pagai, Sipora and Siberut. The indigenous inhabitants of the islands are known as the Mentawai people. The original inhabitants of Mentawai have different cultures with the Minangkabau because of separate by the sea.
