Wouldn't it be nice to have millions! Anyhow, this week's post is all about charting them...

Large numbers always look much better on a chart axis in Microsoft Excel when abbreviated. For example, 7.9 M instead of 7,899,456. Just use the appropriate custom number format code.

Back to (hopefully!) your favourite topic - Pivot Tables. So long as your dates are in the correct date format (i.e. number of days since 1.1.1900), then days and what you associate with days (could be amounts of money!) can roll up into one figure for each month, each quarter of a year or each full year. Let me show you how...

Each row of your source data might have a date. These dates and corresponding values can roll up into a month, a quarter or a year through Pivot Table date grouping, e.g. it can give a single figure for February sales from all your daily sales for February.

Very foggy day here all day yesterday. Hopefully, basic Microsoft Excel formulas are clearer for everyone. If not, why not check out this week's post...

You can add, subtract, multiply and divide in Microsoft Excel using basic formulas. Also, the SUM function for adding up a range of cells or "&" to join text from different cells can be very useful too in basic Microsoft Excel formulas.

I only give you 4 (!) methods to add another line to a graph. It’s a great example of Microsoft Excel’s penchant for giving you different ways to end up at the same end result. It’s up to yourself which method you decide to adopt.
