This Sunday is arguably the biggest Monaghan GAA match in 30 years. A win would see us progress to an All Ireland semi-final for the first time since 1988. None of the current squad are even old enough to remember that semi-final.

It gets even more exciting when you consider it’s a home match in Clones against Kerry, the most successful county in the history of the GAA. We need to make home advantage count like never before and become the 16th Monaghan player in this battle of giants.

Tag your family and friends, your work colleagues, that friend who’s always talked about going to a game but never managed to find the time, your neighbour who only has a passing interest in the GAA. This is the one. This is the big one. Monaghan are on the verge of achieving something special. Everyone in the county needs to step up and be a part of this. Get your tickets for Clones this Sunday.

We want to turn St. Tiernach’s park in Clones into a sea of white and blue elevating the roar of the Farney Army to volumes like we’ve never heard before. A cauldron of noise to terrify the Kerry team and inspire our lads to victory. The atmosphere of an Ulster Final but with 90% of the attendees supporting the one team…. Monaghan.

The level of quality being achieved by this team is breathtaking. Remember Monaghan have never won an All-Ireland. It’s been 88 years since our only all Ireland final appearance and it’s been 30 years since our last all Ireland semi-final appearance. A win on Sunday would be huge. Counties with a population like ours are not supposed to be achieving this kind of success so every single one of us in county Monaghan needs to appreciate it and do our part to support this amazing squad of players, management and back room staff. They’re doing they’re bit for the county now we need to do ours!

If for some reason you can’t make it to Clones on Sunday then you can still make a difference. Every house, shop, business, main road and back road should be adorned with white and blue so we let the Kerry lads know when they’ve entered GAA country. Banners on bridges, road side signs, flags on every car. White and Blue everywhere!!!
