The Anam Cara workshop for frontline professionals supporting bereaved families is now accredited by the IACP for CPD Credits!

Following the success of our in person workshops earlier this year, we are now hosting two online workshops in October & November

Who is the workshop for?
· Garda Síochana and PSNI Family Liaison Officers
· Emergency First Responders
· Funeral Directors Hospital and Hospice Staff
· Emergency Departments Medical staff
· Social Workers
· Chaplains/Clergy Therapists/Counsellors Community workers supporting bereaved families

Dates: Tuesday 13th October & Tuesday 10th November 2026

Cost: €20 per person

.Anam Cara's next Bereavement information Evening will centre around the fundamentals of parental grief and 'what helps.' This event is open to all parents whose child or children have died, regardless of the age of their child, circumstances of their death, or time since bereavement.
This event will take place online on Thursday 15 October at 7pm.

We are joined by Breffni McGuinness.

Breffni McGuinness currently serves as a Bereavement Coordinator at LauraLynn, Ireland's Children's Hospice. Prior to this role, Breffni has been working in bereavement support, focusing on developing awareness, education, and resources to support bereaved individuals and communities. Breffni brings unique perspectives to his work, with specialisations in dramatherapies and pastoral care.

For many parents, these Information Evenings are their first contact with any supports after the death of their child. Approachable psychoeducation based in their particular experience can help parents recognise their own needs and those of their family, whether they be ongoing Level 1 supports, exploring Level 2 supports in their community, or realising they may need more help and reaching out for Level 3 or 4 specialised supports. When you share these events with your community, these vital pathways remain open for bereaved parents.

New Patron of the Family Resource Centres has been announced

🌟 A significant moment for the National Family Resource Centre Programme

President Catherine Connolly becomes Patron of the National Family Resource Centre Programme

The Family Resource Centre National Forum is delighted to announce that President Catherine Connolly has accepted our invitation to become our Patron.

The National Family Resource Centre Programme is Ireland’s largest national family and community-based support programme, bringing together 136 Family Resource Centres across the country to collectively implement our human rights-based approach to community development and family support across the life-course, with a strong focus on prevention and early intervention.

Having visited so many Family Resource Centres before her election, and since her inauguration, President Connolly has seen first-hand the difference Family Resource Centres make. The collective vision of FRCs, that all children, families, individuals and communities will actively participate and be included in a society that is equal, equitable, inclusive, and non-discriminatory and which will enable their optimal well-being aligns closely to Catherine Connolly’s vision, to be a President for all the people, especially for those often excluded and silenced and to be a voice for equality and justice.

Addressing our National Conference in June 2026, President Connolly spoke warmly about the importance and impact of FRCs. She told those gathered that, when setting her priorities as President, shining a light on your work was top of my list. We are honoured that she has chosen to continue that support as Patron.

Her patronage is a meaningful recognition of the staff, volunteers, and voluntary directors who help make FRCs welcoming places of support, belonging, connection, action, and change across Ireland. On behalf of the 136 Family Resource Centres we represent, we thank President Connolly for recognising their collective contribution alongside their communities and we look forward to working with the President in the coming years to advance our shared vision.
