Lot 880 | A piece with a story that spans centuries ✨

An important Louis XVI oval walnut and tulipwood table en-chiffonier, crafted in 18th-century France and stamped by Jean-Pierre Dusautoy.

Elegant in both form and function, this piece features a tooled leather inset top, pierced brass gallery, and three finely detailed drawers, all raised on shaped legs with a kidney-shaped stretcher shelf.

Its provenance is exceptional - purchased in Paris by Lord Charles Beresford, and said to have once belonged to Marie Antoinette 👑

Later gifted at Belgard Castle in 1896, with a remarkable history carried through generations.

Presented as part of our upcoming Chatsworth Summer Fine Art Sale with Fonsie Mealy Auctioneers.

Lot 826 | A remarkable rediscovery!

By Roderic O’Conor (1860–1940) “Chrysanthemums and Christmas Roses”, 1897, oil on canvas.

Re-emerging after decades in a private collection, this vibrant still life stands among O’Conor’s most celebrated works. Exhibited at the Salon des Indépendants in 1904, it reflects the artist at the height of his creative powers. A rich interplay of reds, pinks and greens unfolds across a dynamic composition of ceramics, fruit and florals, echoing his bold, post-impressionist style. Closely related in subject and date to works held in the National Gallery of Ireland, this painting marks a significant moment in the continued rediscovery of O’Conor’s legacy.

Auction: Wednesday 29th & Thursday 30th April, Friday 1st May - 11.00am sharp each day.
