🌍✨ Celebrating Africa Day in Meath! ✨🌍

We were delighted to join our friends at to celebrate Africa Day as part of our Pathways to Employment programme, funded through the Integration Fund from the Department of Justice Ireland. Africa Day is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the rich cultures, traditions, languages, music, and contributions of African communities living in Ireland. Events like these help to build stronger and more inclusive communities where everyone feels welcome and valued.

At Blackwater Training, we believe that integration is about connection, belonging, and creating opportunities for people from different backgrounds to come together, learn from one another, and celebrate diversity. Understanding each other's stories is where that journey begins.

It was also a privilege to meet and speak with Cllr. Yemi Adenuga, Ireland's first elected Black female public representative and Meath County Council's first migrant councillor. We enjoyed sharing the work of Blackwater Training as a social enterprise supporting integration, education, and community development across rural Ireland.

A huge thank you to everyone who attended and helped make the event such a positive and vibrant celebration. 💚

🌍✈️ China, here we come!

We are delighted to share that are travelling to China this week to participate in the World Youth Development Forum (WYDF), bringing together young leaders, organisations, policymakers and changemakers from more than 100 countries around the world.

The Forum focuses on how young people can contribute to sustainable development, innovation, education, entrepreneurship, cultural exchange and global cooperation. It is an incredible opportunity to learn from others, share the work happening in rural Ireland, and build new international partnerships that can benefit our communities at home. You might even catch us on a panel or two.

We are particularly proud to represent Ireland and to showcase how community education, youth engagement, volunteering and social innovation can create opportunities for people living in rural and often overlooked communities.

Over the coming days, we’ll be sharing updates from the Forum (if we can!), insights from delegates around the world, and highlights from our journey.

📰 Did you catch us in the The Anglo-Celt this week?

We were delighted to see coverage of our recent Community Health Fair in Bailieborough Courthouse, which brought together 17 health, wellbeing, and community organisations under one roof.

The event, supported through the Department of Justice Ireland
Integration Fund, highlighted the fantastic range of services available across our community and created an opportunity for people to connect directly with local organisations, ask questions, and learn more about the supports available to them.

A huge thank you to all of the organisations, volunteers, community partners, and attendees who helped make the day such a success. Together, we are building stronger, healthier, and more connected communities. 💙

✨ Empowering Women, Building Futures ✨

Last week, we were delighted to bring 10 women from the newly established Women's Shed in Bailieborough to the Empowering Women Conference at the Mullingar Park Hotel, organised by Brid Gordon and Ciaran Mullooly MEP.

The event provided a fantastic opportunity to hear from inspiring women, learn more about entrepreneurship, leadership, and business development, and connect with others who are making a difference in their communities.

At Blackwater Training, we are passionate about supporting women to develop their skills, confidence, and ambitions. We are looking forward to continuing this journey with the group through our Pathways to Participation programme, funded by the Department of Justice and the Ireland Against Racism Fund.

Whether you're thinking about starting a business, returning to work, developing new skills, or exploring your next step, we're here to help. Through our business incubation support, employability training, and community programmes, we aim to create opportunities for everyone to reach their potential.

Interested in getting involved? We'd love to hear from you! 💚

🌍✨ Travel Review✨🌍

We’re delighted to share the experiences of our volunteers Padraig and Hlib, who recently represented Blackwater Training at the international youth exchange “Who Taught You Your Gender?” in Braga.

The project brought together young people from across Europe to explore how gender, identity, stereotypes and prejudice can shape our experiences and influence the way we see the world. Through workshops, group discussions, debates and collaborative activities, participants developed a deeper understanding of inclusion, equality and respect for diversity.

Working alongside fellow participants in a safe and supportive environment, the group strengthened their teamwork, communication and intercultural skills while building friendships that will last far beyond the project itself.

Beyond the training activities, participants also had the opportunity to discover the beautiful city of Braga, engage with the local community and experience Portuguese culture firsthand.

At Blackwater, we believe in:
🌎 New cultures
🤝 New friendships
💡 New ideas
✈️ New opportunities

Interested in taking part in future youth exchanges, training courses or volunteering opportunities across Europe? Keep an eye on our page - your next adventure could be just around the corner!
