John joined the Gem Oils team in 1979 working until his untimely passing a year ago. We remember John as a pioneering professional whose contribution to our story and success is a cornerstone to what we are today. Though a year has passed John remains fresh in our memory and will always be. We wish to honour and remember a friend and colleague who was taken in the prime of life. To his son, and our colleague Mark, to Celine, Lorraine and John’s grandchildren and family – you remain in our hearts and in our thoughts. John Connolly was an exemplar of decency, professionalism and integrity and we honour his memory.

It is with profound sadness that we acknowledge the passing of our dear friend and retired colleague, Eric Forde.

Eric joined the Gem family in 1972 and dedicated 47 years of his career to our company, retiring in 2019. During this time, he served as an Area Business Manager with unwavering dedication and professionalism. Eric’s kindness, integrity, and loyalty left an enduring mark on all who had the privilege to work alongside him. He was not only a valued colleague but also a mentor, a leader, an ambassador and a true stalwart of Gem Oils.

Eric’s contribution to our organisation went far beyond his work—his warmth, humour, and generosity of spirit enriched the lives of his colleagues and friends. He will be remembered with deep respect and great affection.

Our heartfelt thoughts and prayers are with his beloved wife Elizabeth, daughters Janet, Alison, and Joanne, his six cherished grandchildren, and his extended family and friends.

He will be sadly missed by all of us at Gem Oils.

We were delighted to mark a special occasion with a presentation to our colleague Declan Callaghan, who became a father in July.

Both baby Darragh and mum Danielle are doing wonderfully, and we wish the family every happiness during this exciting new chapter!

It is with profound sadness that we acknowledge the sudden and untimely passing of our friend and colleague John Connolly. John grew up with the company and has been part of the Gem family since 1979. John was a cherished member of our team who served as an Area Business Manager for over 46 years. His dedication, professionalism and kindness left a lasting impression on everyone he worked with and his invaluable contributions to our team and warm presence will be deeply missed. John’s impact and contribution to the growth and development of Gem Oils, from modest beginnings to a national industry leader was invaluable. John developed customer relationships, introduced products and services while nurturing our brand. He supported his colleagues, advocated for his customers, and promoted our offering with honesty, dignity, and his effortless charm that we will all miss so much. Gem Oils has lost a great ambassador who invested his career and great energy to our organisation.

Our heartfelt thoughts and prayers are with his son Mark, who is also a member of the Gem Oils team, his wife Celine, daughter Lorraine, his four grandchildren, extended family and friends. He will be sadly missed by his friends and colleagues in Gem Oils. May he rest in peace.

We will be closed on Friday 28th March, as a mark of respect and to attend the funeral service of our dear friend.
