If you’re looking for something a little bit unique and home grown, take a look at lots 365A and 415A appearing in the April Advertising Sale next week.
These fantastic Guinness and Beamish signs were created by Paul Cialis, an artist and sculptor based in Skibbereen, Co. Cork. Paul is a celebrated local artist working with traditional materials and techniques and his grounded, hands on practice is evident in these totally exclusive pieces, each one individually made with texture, depth and inimitable character.
Estimated at €175-€275 for lot 415A and €200-€400 for 365A, they’re Irish made, totally unique and oozing all the charm we associate with the Irish pub.

Lot 365 appearing in next week’s advertising sale is a rare one.
This is a Cantrell and Cochrane’s Ginger Ale advertising mirror. Dating from the late 19th or early 20th century, it’s mounted in a mahogany frame and constructed in two sections. Founded in Belfast in 1852, Cantrell & Cochrane built a global reputation for their quality soft drinks, with their ginger ale becoming a household name.
Measuring 35cm high and a whopping 480cm wide, this mirror is a piece of serious scale and one that proved immensely difficult to photograph, but it certainly commands attention in person.
With surviving pieces of this scale and quality rarely appearing on the market today, this lot demands your attention as one of the standout lots appearing. It wears a pre-sale estimate of €3000 - €5000.

Taking centre stage in next week’s Advertising auction, the star lot is lot 552.
This is a truly exceptional mid-1960s mahogany bar, meticulously crafted in the style of an original Victorian version. This impressive, full-scale bar comes with some mighty impressive dimensions and features richly detailed woodwork throughout. The back is fitted with two matching 20th century oval “Pure Pot Still Powers” advertising mirrors in addition to a striking “Powers Whiskey John’s Lane Distillery” mirror at the centre.
Flanked by elegant pillars and complete with glazed panelled doors leading to an adjoining lounge, this remarkable lot offers a rare opportunity to acquire a complete bar of this scale and presence.
It goes to auction next Thursday evening, April 30th, as lot 552 with an estimate of €30,000 - €60,000. Please note that in-person viewing of this lot is by appointment only on Friday April 24th, please call the office for appointments.
