Appreciation - We love when architecture take cues from and . The Qatar National Convention Centre (QNCC) does this elegantly with it's tree branch facade, supporting the canopy above. Designed by influential Japanese architect Arata Isozaki, the QNCC also focuses on - built to LEED gold cert standards. Nature also makes it's way inside with the unsettling Spider of ' '' ' (Pictured Below).

The QNCC reminds us of this project we are collaborating on with Daniel Johns Pakistan- Cé La Vie, - by incorporating the rounder shapes of the Margalla hills around with its wave design. These styles are not traditionally seen in , should they?

72 years of The !

Having previously been another famous building in Grant's furniture and clothes shop, which stood on the Grand Parade from the 1860's to 1942. Extensive fire damage led to a new venture, with The opening it's doors for the first time to film buffs in 1947.

For years it featured as one of the prime points of the , with many a couple and friends arranging to meet outside it's doors or enjoying its blockbusters after a day's shopping.

On December 1st 2005, The had its last public screenings - and the Goblet of Fire and The Constant Gardener, after which it closed for many years remaining vacant, unused and falling into disrepair.

That was until the multi-million euro redevelopment of the site by our clients JCD Group, which helped to reinvigorate not just The Capitol, but the surrounding streets - by linking access from and the Grande Parade.

It's now been two years since the redeveloped Capitol, designed by Wilson Architecture OMMW, opened once more to the public in July 2017. Marking 72 years this month of The Capitol name holding its place in the heart of Cork. As consultants to the project, we look back thankfully at being a part of Cork's and more importantly its

city is moving EAST.

Over the space of just a month we have heard the massive scale of things to come for 's .

In keeping with the Government's recent National Development Plan 2040, Cork is to grow rapidly, meaning the need for more accommodation, offices, restaurants, retail units, leisure spaces, and with - the possibility of new FDI opportunities.

And boy has it kicked off ....

With the recently unveiled €150 million custom house quay regeneration proposal, to the provisional largest ever single deal for the R&H Hall and Odlum's sites with O'Callaghan Properties, and the recent animation G-NET 3D helped launch for our partners at JCD Group- a 25-storey, build to rent scheme on the former Carey Tools and Sextant site - Cork is limbering up to meet the challenge.

This all comes on top of JCD Group's Penrose Dock, BAM Ireland's construction of Horgan's Quay, O'Callaghan Properties Navigation Square, One Albert Quay and Pairc Ui Chaoimh (our images below) in recent years.

As always G-Net 3D will continue to make sure to keep you updated with all the , and as we them.
