The SVAI CPD Programme gives Virtual Assistants and Online Service Providers a structured way to continue developing as professionals 🎓

Some sessions help you build on the services you deliver. Others focus on the business behind them, covering areas such as finance, data protection, professional boundaries, AI and compliance.

It’s practical learning designed around the realities of working as a VA or OSP in Ireland, so you can take what you learn and put it to use in your own business.

Continuing professional development also gives potential clients something tangible 👉 It shows that you are actively keeping your knowledge current and investing in the standards you bring to your work.

A new one hour session led by an industry expert is added to your CPD vault on the first of each month. There is no live attendance required, so you can watch whenever suits you.

Professionalism can often be confused with formality..

Having contracts, clear boundaries and proper processes in place will not make you seem cold or corporate. In fact, those foundations often make it easier to build a warm, relaxed relationship with your clients.

When a client hands over part of their business to a Virtual Assistant or Online Service Provider, they want to feel confident that it is in safe hands.

Clear agreements and reliable processes show them what to expect, how you will work together and that their business, clients and information will be treated responsibly.

Those foundations protect you too! When expectations around scope, communication, payments and availability are agreed from the beginning, there is less uncertainty on both sides. You’re not trying to decide what to do when a request falls outside the agreed scope or feeling awkward about following up on an unpaid invoice. The conversation has already been had.

That gives you more room to relax, be yourself and focus on doing good work.

The Virtual Assistants and Online Service Providers who are brilliant at building client relationships are often the same people who have strong foundations behind the scenes. The two go hand in hand 🤝

You can absolutely be someone a client enjoys working with AND someone they trust to run a professional business.

That balance sits at the heart of the SVAI Code of Professional Standards.

Sometimes you don’t need someone to tell you what to do. You just need to say it out loud to someone who understands!

Running a business by yourself can mean carrying an enormous amount in your own head.
There are decisions to make, ideas to work through and worries that can feel much bigger when you have nobody to share them with.

The people in your life may be wonderfully supportive, but unless they run a business themselves, they may not fully understand what is weighing on you.

Finding people who do get it gives you somewhere to speak honestly, sound things out and realise that you aren’t the only person who has faced something like this✨

We see this regularly in the SVAI community.
Someone shares something that may have been worrying them for weeks, other people immediately say, “That happened to me too,” and you can immediately see the relief!

The full Summit schedule is here 🙌

We’ve been sharing the individual speakers, sessions and plans for weeks, but now you can see how the whole day will unfold.

When we planned this year’s programme, we didn’t want to fill the day with back-to-back presentations and send everyone home with nothing but pages of notes. We’ve created time to listen, talk, meet people and actively work on your own business.

👉 Registration begins at 9.30am, giving you time to check in with us, grab some breakfast bites and ease into the day with informal mingling.

👉 We’ll then begin our morning sessions, exploring image, presence and personal brand with Sinead Kelly, strategic networking with Samantha Kelly and building a business around your natural strengths with Marina Brannigan.

👉 At lunchtime, we’ll bring everyone together for facilitated networking and content creation. There will also be a professional headshot station available during the day.

👉 In the afternoon, we’ll work on strengthening your elevator pitch in a live workshop using AI, worksheets and guided prompts.

👉 We’ll close the daytime Summit with our fireside panel, bringing Sandra Thompson, Aisling Donnelly and Denise McGill together for an honest conversation about what building a business actually looks like.

🥂 For those joining us for the Awards, we’ll come back together that evening for drinks and a three-course dinner, with the Awards presented between courses.

It’s a full programme, with plenty of breathing room for proper conversations, new connections and giving your own business some well-deserved attention 💪

Boundaries That Work: Protecting Your Time as a VA with Sean McLoughney, founder of Learning Curve.

Every time you say yes to something, you are saying no to something else!
When you are juggling multiple clients, multiple roles and a to-do list that never seems to get shorter, it is easy to work flat out all day and still wonder what you actually achieved.

This session is not about finding another app or trying to squeeze more work into your day.

Drawing on ten years of research into what genuinely works for busy professionals, Sean shares two practical principles to help you understand your real capacity, protect time for your priorities and make more deliberate decisions about what you take on.

👉 How to protect your most important work in the same way you would protect a client meeting

Constructive feedback is not a personal attack🚨

When you are the person behind the service, your work can feel like an extension of you. So when a Client asks for a change, it’s very easy to hear “I’m not good enough,” even when that isn’t what they are saying at all!

Receiving feedback is a normal part of providing a service.
Sometimes a client simply has a preference you couldn’t have known about. Learning what they need and how they like things done can strengthen the relationship and help you provide an even better service next time.

This is one of the ten lessons we are sharing in the season one finale of Virtual Ventures, which is out today!

Between us, we have spent years running our own online service businesses and working behind the scenes in many others. In this episode, we are looking back at some of the lessons that have shaped how we now approach our work, our clients and our businesses.
