Our Story begins in Seattle in the USA where Kevin Burtchaell, after working as a design engineer within the aerospace industry, set up Keltia Design Inc.

Keltia is a technical support services company providing engineering CAD design, CAD training and a broad range of technical recruiting services to customers in Aerospace, Medical Device, Energy & other Industries in 2000. Keltia has now become very successful at source and place engineering talent with some of the leading aerospace multinationals. After returning home to Ireland in 2012 Kevin not

iced a similar need among Irish engineering companies who were not well serviced by large recruiting agencies. Keltia Ireland was setup to provide Irish Companies with a more focused approach to finding the skills and people needed for success. Based in Cork, Kevin and the team spend our time identifying and sourcing talent. A difficult job made slightly easier by 16 years’ talent spotting and 20 years engineering experience. Companies, like people are individuals, one size does not fit all, Keltia is interested in getting to know the companies we work for.

Keltia at the AI Works Ireland 2026! 🇮🇪

Kevin Burtchaell and one of our interns, Salvador, spent the day at the AI Works Ireland event meeting new people, networking, and connecting with talented individuals across the industry. It was also great catching up with Sam Adu, a former Keltia employee.

The event featured really insightful talks and panel discussions from Google, industry leaders, and rising entrepreneurs, all focused on how AI is shaping the future of business and innovation in Ireland.

Theo attended the Aerospace Technology Summit in Mullingar on March 12th, 2026 — an inspiring day full of innovation and discovery ✈️

As a student, this event was a fantastic opportunity to explore a wide range of aerospace technologies and gain deeper insight into the industry. The morning presentations were highly enriching, providing valuable knowledge and perspective on current developments in the sector.

In the afternoon, the technology showcases — including live demos and detailed explanations — made it even more engaging, helping me connect what I’m studying with real-world applications.

I also had the chance to meet and speak with several professionals, which made the experience even more rewarding and insightful.

A truly exciting and motivating experience that has strengthened my interest in the aerospace industry 🚀

🚗 Keltia Weekly Webinar – Reverse Engineering in Action!

This week, we jumped back into reverse engineering skills using our conceptual Formula Student Car project.

We reviewed the components, took a deeper dive into the car seat, and began recreating a new steering wheel to replace the dumb solid in the assembly.

It was a great hands-on session focused on practical CAD workflows, understanding existing geometry, and rebuilding components.

Kevin recently visited UCD again to check in on the impressive progress being made by the UCD Formula Student team on their latest formula car.

At Keltia, we’ve been proud to support UCD’s Formula Student project over the years — a fully student-led effort that involves extensive CAD design, load analysis, and vehicle dynamics work to develop a competitive single-seater race car.

Recently, our team has also been practicing reverse engineering a Formula Student car using CATIA V6. This forms part of our broader mission to help bring industry-standard CATIA software into Irish engineering education, giving students hands-on experience with the same tools used across aerospace, automotive, and advanced manufacturing.

We're excited to continue helping the next generation of Irish engineers gain valuable, job-ready skills and contribute to innovative projects like this one.

Keltia at the Limerick Jobs Expo 2025 🇮🇪

Last week, Kevin and Ricardo represented Keltia at the Limerick Jobs Expo, connecting with talented individuals and networking with other companies across engineering and technical sectors.

Kevin had the opportunity to give a career talk on engineering pathways, sharing insights on career development, job search strategies, and how candidates can best prepare for opportunities in aerospace, design, and manufacturing.

It was a fantastic day full of great conversations, new connections, and the chance to meet many passionate people eager to advance their careers.

✨ Last weekend, Keltia attended the Jobs Expo Galway! ✨

Our team members, Katie and Ricardo, delivered an engaging presentation titled “Help Your Career Take Off with CAD Training.” 🚀

We also offered career coaching for engineers, including CV reviews and interview preparation, to help professionals take the next step in their careers.

At Keltia, our services go beyond events like this — we provide weekly CAD webinars to help upskill engineers, creating more job opportunities with our clients, as well as mentorship for startups looking to grow.

We would like to thank our summer Intern Clement Bidet from the college of ICAM Nantes in France, for his help to design and build a mast for our Solidworks Canoe Project

This month at Keltia, we’ve taken on a different kind of engineering challenge—designing and building a wooden support system to mount a mast on a canoe.
From initial sketches to cutting and assembling the structure, it’s been all about adapting engineering principles to a hands-on, practical project. 🔧⚒ We’ve been focusing on stability, load distribution, and keeping the structure lightweight for smooth sailing.
This marks the first step in the transformation of the canoe into a small sailing vessel—a project that blends creativity, craftsmanship, and engineering know-how. 💡

We expanded on our earlier work by covering the steering rack (Faisal Forde) and exploring how to extract surfaces from step file models (Ron Martynow)🔩📏 We also fixed the coordinate system for our car.
