**** ATTENTION FARMERS ****
In acknowledgement of the urgency of support required following Storm Eowyn, the Minister has decided to open a new Targeted Agriculture Modernisation Scheme tranche for a three-week period to deal specifically with storm-related damage on farms. This tranche will open immediately after the current tranche has closes on Friday, 7 March 2025, and will close on Friday, 28 March .
The normal eligibility criteria will apply, and the minimum investment remains at €2,000.
The specific items in respect of which applications will be accepted over this three-week period are as follows:
Backup PTO Generators (this covers all types of generators irrespective of the drive mechanism),
Sheep, Bovine and Equine Fencing,
Wood / Biomass Chippers and Mulchers.
Considering the recent power outages arising from Storm damage, the Minister has reviewed the scope of generators supported by TAMS to include all generators irrespective of the drive mechanism. The grant is targeted at the generator rather than the drive mechanism. While these generators are included as an investment item under the Dairy Equipment Scheme, the investment is open to all farmers who declare the minimum eligibility requirement of five hectares under the Basic Income Support for Sustainability (BISS) Scheme in the year of application, or preceding year. There is no requirement to be milking cows to be eligible for backup generators under the scheme. This will allow farmers have emergency generation facilities to address power cuts. In addition, with the clean-up ongoing, there is much demand for woodchippers and mulchers.
Applications for investments other than those specified should be submitted before the 8th of March and after the 28th March 2025.
Investments other than those specified included on applications made during the emergency tranche window will be rejected from that application.
Mobile investments may be purchased following submission of an application at the applicant’s own risk, Fixed investments must not be purchased prior to approval.
If an applicant has applied for one of these emergency investments in tranche 6 ( open from 7 December 2024 to 7 March 2025), and now wish to have that investment included in the emergency tranche, they should include it in their emergency application and email [email protected] to have it withdrawn from the tranche 6 application.
A mobile investment purchased at own risk following tranche 5 or tranche 6 application, and subsequently withdrawn and included in the emergency tranche, will be processed as if the purchase was made following the emergency tranche application.
Applications for the emergency tranche will be given priority for processing and approval over current tranches.
Authorisation requests need to be submitted before the opening of the emergency tranche to ensure completion.
The regular tranche, which will cater for all TAMS applications, will open immediately thereafter on 29 March and will close on the previously advised date of 6 June 2025 and there will be no impact on agreed timelines.
