We've hosted plenty of networking events at WorkIQ over the past two years. And if there's one thing we've learned, it's that the best conversations rarely start with a sales pitch.

They usually start with curiosity.

At your next event, instead of asking "What do you do?", try to ask: "What are you working on right now?"

It's a simple question, but one that tends to reveal a lot more about a person than their job title ever could.

You might hear about a startup idea. A challenge they're trying to solve. A new client they've just landed. A project they're passionate about. And that's usually where the interesting conversations begin.

🔗 Our latest article explores practical ways to get more value from networking events, including one mistake many people make after they've left the room. 👀

Started with a couple of desks.

Then a couple more.

Then someone had to start taking calls from the kitchen.

If your team has outgrown its current setup, we have larger office spaces at WorkIQ designed for businesses that are growing and need a bit more room to do it.

More space. More privacy. Still part of our community.
((and, importantly, nobody has to take their next meeting from the kitchen))

The first 30 days of a start-up matter more than most founders realise.

With so much to do, it’s easy to spread time and energy too thin. The key isn’t doing everything; it’s focusing on the right things, in the right order.

Swipe through for a simple, week-by-week look at what early-stage founders should prioritise in their first month, from building solid foundations to creating momentum that lasts.

Don’t figure it out alone. Speak to our team or book a tour to see how our Centre

We’re all guilty of… trying to automate too early.

Automation feels productive.
But if you don't understand the process first, you're often just creating a faster way to make mistakes.

Do it manually. Spot the patterns. Then automate.

Most businesses outgrow their setup before they realise it's holding them back.

It usually starts small. A kitchen table. A spare room. A coffee shop with decent Wi-Fi. And for a while, it works. Then a client asks for a meeting. A new hire starts Monday and there's nowhere to put them... That's when office space stops being a nice-to-have.

The practical takeaway: before you view a single space, write down your non-negotiables. Not your wishlist — your dealbreakers. Access hours, contract length, what's included in the monthly cost.

That list will cut your shortlist in half 😉

We’re all guilty of… thinking 'no' is a bad thing.

Every founder wants a 'yes'.
But a 'no' gives you something useful: feedback, direction, or a faster path to the right customer.

A 'no' isn't failure. It's progress.

Download the brochure to find out how to handle rejection with confidence and turn setbacks into opportunities & get practical insights straight to your inbox.

We’re all guilty of… starting a newsletter and ghosting it.

The problem usually isn't effort... It's running out of ideas and waiting for inspiration to show up.

Consistency gets much easier when you have a plan before you start.

Not every meeting needs a meeting room. But some definitely do.

That's why our meeting rooms are available for everything from client meetings and interviews to workshops, presentations and team sessions.

A proper space. A screen. A table. A door.

Sometimes that's all you need to get everyone in the same room and get things done.

WE'RE ALL GUILTY OF... building something people won't pay for.

Just because people have a problem... Doesn't mean they'll pay you to solve it.

We've all been there... Building a solution before asking:

Is this actually a priority?
Is it costing them money?
Is it causing enough pain to drive action?
Have they already tried fixing it?

Comment GUILTY and we'll send you a free copy of our Startup Sales & Marketing Survival Guide.
